Our Timber Products

All our products are completely unique to Dunster House and are manufactured by our dedicated factories.

Log Cabins and other garden products are typically made from 2 types of softwood – Redwood (Pine) or Whitewood (Spruce). We make our products using whitewood, as, despite being more expensive it is considered to be more stable against warps and splits than redwood.

Our timber is responsibly sourced from cold northern regions where the timber grows slowly. We all know the old adage of counting the rings to see how old a tree is. Well our timber grows slower, takes longer to get to size and so has more rings in it. This means it is tighter grained, as each ring helps prevent cracks and shakes appearing in the timber. 

Spruce is a whitewood, which is generally considered more stable as it expands and contracts less than Pine, which a lot of our competition use. If you live in a timber frame house the timber framing is highly likely to be spruce as the construction industry has long understood the superiority of spruce over pine in their requirement for a stable, strong softwood as they don't want service calls from cracked plasterwork as the timber moves behind it.

Open 7 days a week and have our own show sites

Customers are always welcome to come and view our products for themselves. There is a huge difference in quality between various manufacturers. A show site offers you the chance to see and experience exactly what you’ll be getting. Our showrooms ensure that you have an opportunity to see, touch and get a feel for our products before purchase. We are not an internet-only company; a lot of internet companies do not have show sites or a registered address beyond a PO Box. Buying on the internet certainly has its advantages but ensure a company is prepared to back this service up by spending time answering questions and showing you around. Even if you decide to forego this part, it’s reassuring to know there’s no veil between what’s being offered on the internet and its reality.

Deluxe Rapidpad™ Foundations:

We supply Hot Dipped Galvanised metal Brackets as standard with your Gazebo which allows you to attach the gazebo down to an existing hard level base if you have one. If you’re looking to place the gazebo onto a site which is currently grass or similar then our Deluxe RapidPad™ system allows you to do this with minimum digging out (just 40mm down under each pad) and with a quick and easy levelling system.

At Dunster House® we have been searching for a practical solution to the ideal foundation system dilemma for some time. After looking at all the different options available to our customers, we decided the best thing to do was to design and launch our very own! Our fully adjustable, portable Deluxe RapidPad™ foundation system (Registered Design, Patent Pending) is ideal for our range of African Thatched Gazebos, as well as being used on our Log Cabins and Garden Offices. The Deluxe RapidPads™ offer many benefits over the conventional method of concreting in each of the posts, concrete is bulky and labour intensive in both mixing and moving it, typically taking up to 3 days to set and is difficult to level. Also setting wooden posts into concrete is very detrimental to the lifespan of the timber due to being in constantly wet conditions which causes decay and rot even with pressure treated timbers.

With a Deluxe RapidPad™ system you can very quickly and easily give your African Thatched Gazebo a solid base that will last as long as the Gazebo will – we cover the Deluxe RapidPads™ with a 12 year Warranty. With Deluxe RapidPad™ you’re getting a product specific system that slots into the bottom of each post to prevent lateral movement which can be covered over with stone shingles to give the effect that the Gazebo is floating over your Garden.
