Ordering 3m x 3m corner coronet log cabin was very easy, delivered on time the driver was brilliant , very helpful and gave me some good tips on erecting the cabin . took my time with building it which i did on my own from start to finish about 4 weeks in all , being newly retired time was not important .I individually treated every piece with clear wood preserver as i went along and when the cabin was complete gave it a couple of coats of clear spray preservative prior before putting the glass in . No problems putting it together the parts fit like a glove but make sure you have a bench chop saw before starting , there is a lot of sawing especially the roof and floor boards
The cabin was built last spring 2011 and looks magnificent in the corner of the garden ,great value for the money , thanks to all at Dunster House

Just completed building this cabin, took me approx 40 hours. I assembled it myself coating every piece of timber with preserver, I found it relatively easy to construct all timbers fitting well.I am very pleased with the finished product.
(Tip)On delivery day have some timber bearers laid on a level surface ready to store your cabin and a large waterproof cover.

I bought the Lantera 250 at the end of October 2011. It was built (thanks so, so much to George my brother in law) just before the winter weather set in and I managed to get 2 coats of Sovereign on right away. It is a very impressive cabin, well thought out construction, water tight and a really lovely space for a great range of activities, storage and crafts. Everyone who has seen it has commented on the quality. Would highly recommend Dunster House.

I was stunned by how much timber was delivered, but nearly all of it was used! The end result is very pleasing, and apart from a few head-scratching moments deciphering the instructions, construction was very straightforward. Only problem was I ran out of 2" nails, but had lots of clouts and shingles left over (???)and thought the 2" nails should have been galvanised....but then, nothing is perfect.

Dunster House comment:
Nothing is ever perfect but the only way to even get close is to strive for perfection. For that reason, we will check the amount of 50mm nails included in this type of cabin to ensure there is enough. We hope you enjoy your new garden room.4 / 5
Our cabin - Carsare 350 Grande XL 9.5m x 3.5m
We took ages to decide which of the cabins would match our needs. The catalogue and the web site give so much useful information. Moving to a small bungalow from a much larger house meant that we had to reduce our stuff having had several ‘sheds’. We wanted storage and extra space, especially for art and craft activities, and exercise biking.
The bungalow has a garden 12m wide x 17m, and by removing two small decaying sheds and a greenhouse, we had space to take a cabin about 9m long, across the far end.
We chose the 9.5m Casere with its large windows and double doors, as it would face south-west and get full sun. It also forms a screen to surrounding properties without being agressively high. The shallow asymetrical roof is very attractve; today it has its first snow.
The cabin has three sections, and we chose to have an internal wall and door to separate one end for garden tools, mower and bicycles. One window was changed to a door for access. This works well - it’s the ‘mucky’ end.
We chose to use the rapid pad foundations. Levelling and consolidation needed care and we hired a mini-excavator for a day to move the bulk, as the site had a 0.25m fall across the 9.5m.
The cabin was erected by the Dunster House team from Flixborough, and they did it with care and skill in the five days allocated - a very friendly and skilful bunch.
The staining/varnishing took us longer than the cabin took to build! The rear wall near the back boundary first needed fire-retardant (many coats to achieve the required amount).
We like the cabin very much but have yet to sort out stuff between house, garage/workshop and the cabin. This spring and summer, when it comes, should be good.
We have one major criticism. The headroom under beams between the three parts of the cabin is only 180cm ( 5ft 11in) when all the doors are 190cm (extra tall doors as the brochure says). We were told that by choosing the rapid pad base with its 10cm insulated floor, this reduced the height. This is not made clear in the brochure.
Hitting one’s head, or remembering to duck is a constant reminder of this design fault (I’m 6ft tall). We were advised that cutting the beam was unwise as it ties the walls and supports the roof but I think something will have to be changed.
We are very happy with our new cabin and several people have been complimentary and curious to know where it came from. Hope that you get more orders.

We bought a Carsare 250 3.5m x 2.5m 45mm in the summer. The quality of materials is impressive and the online videos and instructions very helpful. Because of other work we had to complete the build in a weekend and that was achieved. It looks great and, because of the solid construction, it feels great too. We are very happy with it.

i put the cabin up in the spring of 2011. delivery excellent and helpful, driver pointed out planks to keep to one side and not forget them. instructions very good, just a question on the roof frames where if you are a fraction out on the depth that you put the beams into the metal holders, i did have the roof slightly out of square, these could do with being pre marked as to the depth of insertion, in the frame.I did most of the work myself, with some help on the higher planks and the roof from my 15 year old son. fitted 70 ml insulation under the floor boards and insulation under the roof felt, and it has kept the office toasty warm. Excellent product i would recommend
with out hesitation.

Very pleased with the cabin and sauna we purchased from Dunster House. Delivery and installation went smoothly, delivery driver and 3 x installers very efficient and helpful, a great day's work! Had no problems with the cabin since it's installation and have really enjoyed the sauna. Having the sauna inside the cabin is a great bonus compared to having another external building. We would recommend Dunster House as a great company to deal with for good quality affordable cabins.

My shed is excellant. Easy to put together using the clear assembly plans supplied with the shed. My only complaint is the poor quality (thin) roof felt which I've had to replace with a better quality (thicker)

Dunster House comment:
Dear Mr. Gregory, Thank you for your review, we are so pleased that you are happy with the Log Cabin you purchased from us. We are sorry to hear about your disappointment with the shed felt. We offer felt as an option to people as the lowest cost way of covering the roof of their cabin and because other cabin manufacturers also offer it. We would always recommend that customer’s instead purchase our Roofing Shingles, which are considerably thicker, harder wearing, more durable and more attractive to look at than roofing felt.5 / 5
Great value for money,I took a week to apply two coats of stain on the tounge and grooves before I built it, went up in four hours after that. Great views and purchased side window which lets even more light in. Love it!!!!

Firstly, this is a great product; don’t bother shopping around as it the cheapest you can get, and a good company to deal with. The cabin is superb, we have ours split into two with the optional dividing wall & door; 1.5m at the rear is my workshop with privacy window, the front is home to a bar against the wall and 6’x3’ pool dining table. We also have the large ‘SideStore’ installed at the back which is great for garden tools, mower etc. We bought the 48mm (non-insulated) cabin and even at zero outside the other week, a small fan heater kept the cabin warm for our dinner guests – in fact we had to open a window as it got too hot (we did insulate under floor & also thick matting under the laminate fitted after). On the contrary in summer it remained noticeably cooler than outside.
Every dealing with Dunster House was timely & efficient; delivery was sorted to fit around our concrete being poured and questions answered quickly. The cabin was supplied with a lot of spare wood, so any flawed pieces could be replaced – I had so much left over I was able to make several sturdy shelves in the rear of the cabin.
Now to the build: Having considered doing this myself, lack of time meant we ended up employing a local carpenter to do it for us - and I’m very glad we did. As a professional (mainly working on his own, for fixed price), with log cabin experience (and a nail gun!), it took him at least seven days to complete. Even as a keen DIYer, now having the seen the scale of it I wouldn’t fancy tackling this myself, the shingle roof being particularly time consuming. The guy doing the build did comment that it was the best quality cabin he’d seen and that everything went together as it should with only minor adjustments.
Overall we’re really really pleased with it, and everyone who visits thinks it’s amazing.
Quick tip on Building/Fire Regulations: one side of our cabin is within one metre of the boundary so should technically be fire retardant inside and out according to local authorities. However when I spoke to the guy at the council he said as long as your 15m or so from any proper buildings (“and all you’d set fire to are trees and fences”) then I needn’t bother, and if anyone from the council ever came to look, just to say I was in the process of talking to companies about implementing it. He said it was a very old rule that was often not relevant these days and they wouldn’t enforce it. So check with your local authority before spending hundreds on fire retardant materials.

So happy with my cabin, looks great, superb quality, great value for money, and very easy to put together if you are a DIY enthusiast! The base was more hassle than the cabin itself although I did bring that on myself by digging a ridiculous sized hole to fill!! Plenty of hardcore and dry sand and cement mix under concrete slabs placed at certain intervals and the cabin is going no-where!! Allow about an hour to unload the cabin from the truck though and have your weetabix before it arrives as each part is unloaded individually & the unloading procedure is more like a tutorial - which was great as .. The key (I found) is to make sure that the floor bearers are perfectly square (and of course your base nice and level) and the walls were built after half a day. The structure was built after a day, and then pretty much a day for the floor and roof boards & all the bits and bobs. Even the door and window were a breeze to do which suprised me as sometimes the little details can take the longest. The door took a bit of adjusting and was on and off a few times but I never reached angry point with it. Excellent all round

My Dunster House Vantage 300 Summerhouse was delivered on time and all the parts were there. The delivery crew were helpful and courteous. I elected to go for self-assembly and found that the instructions are concise but clear provided you read them carefully. I found that it was possible to assemble the summer house on my own with the occasional assistance from my wife to hold things in place. If you opt to put shingles on the roof they take up a lot of time to cut and fit - but are well worth it as the final effect is excellent. Ensure you weather proof with good quality preservative and varnish and you will have a summerhouse that will look good and will really last.
