Solar Heating Range.
Here at Dunster House we offer a range of solar powered products including lighting and heating systems for your home or your Log Cabin. Not only are our solar products eco-friendly but will save you money too, not to mention low maintenance and health benefits that come along with using Solar rather than electric.
Our Solar Air Dehumidifier combined with a Solar Air Heater suit a number of applications in private homes and commercial activities. We have, for over three years, tested these products and have found them to be very efficient in their operation (see the results on the solar air heater home pages on our website). Our MK2 Heater should pay for itself in under 2 years. After that, their contribution to your heating, ventilation and home dehumidification is FREE!
Our Solar Low Energy Lighting System provides your home with back-up or short term primary off-grid lighting. There is nothing worse than a blackout and the promise of "normal service will be restored as soon as possible" but with our 3 or 6 bulb configurations using special 12v DC Low Energy CFL Bulbs you have the perfect lighting solution.
Our Solar Extractor is an ideal powerful method of helping keep your Log Cabin or conservatory refreshed in the summer and can also contribute to a secure way to bring heat into your home direct from a hot conservatory during the winter months, subject to Radiation levels and, in the case of a conservatory, it's positioning against your property wall.
All solar products are dependant on reasonable direct radiation levels (at least 300W/m²) to provide direct power to operate the fan in the Air Heater/Dehumidifier and it is important to understand that the Solar Lighting System is dependant upon levels of radiation, the quantities of hours of direct radiation available plus the amp hours of your battery array.
If the PV panels that generate the electricity and the Solar Heat absorber in the Air Heater are overshadowed or have direct radiation interfered with then the products will not function at their best.
Always consider the above when making a purchase, as with all Solar products they are designed for long term usage and the positioning/orientation of the products is critical to optimise their benefit.
Positioning is always best in a south facing area. Information concerning each individual product is available in the individual information areas on our website. We are unable to comment upon individual site applications as we are unaware of the many influencing factors for your particular use.
Solar radiation level predictions are available on many websites to help you make an informed decision on your potential purchase.

Is the Solar Air Heater suitable for my Country?
UK SOLAR HOURS PER YEAR
Between 1200 and 1500 depending on North/South locations.
The MkII FreeSolar Air 2 as a Solar Air Collector can contribute approx 3200 kWh of free heat each year, at a radiation level of 700 W/m2 during Winter irradiance levels. The performance and heat levels rise during Summer months as irradiance levels in excess of 1300 W/m2 are experienced.
Standard MkII Solar Heater and Solar Dehumidifier Specification
The MkII FreeSolar Air and Dehumidifier unit helps to reduce humidity, moisture and to alleviate health problems such as asthma, and thus helps people to breathe, bathe, cook and wash clothes.
The MkII Solar Air Heater and Dehumidifier is eco friendly: as less energy is used, your CO2 emissions and carbon footprint are reduced. The unit is wall mounted to facilitate easy do-it-yourself installation – roof mounted units can potentially cause accidents and damage your property.
We recommend that the MkII Solar Air Heater and Dehumidifier is installed on a vertical plane to react to the lower travel of the Sun during the winter months. We also suggest that you position it facing due South (in the Northern Hemisphere), and consider the impact of shadows from trees and other structures.
KW/M2 = Kilowatt per metre squared.
M/S = Metres per second.
CFM = Cubic Feet Per Minute.
BTU = British Thermal Unit.
KWH = Kilowatt per hour of heat.
KWPD = Kilowatt per Day of Heat (based on 8 solar hours).
Example
During winter in north Spain, if the price of the kilowatt per hour of heat would be € 0.10
Then based on 8 solar hours per day this system can give you about 12 Kilowatts per day of heat.
Then 12 x € 0.10 = € 1.20 per day or € 8.4 per week or € 37 per month.
All our calculations are based on the lower end of the data available and our unit can perform in excess
