Sherwood Stables
Provide protection from the elements with this fantastic field shelter. Create a cool, shady area for your horse to rest and feed in during the hot summer months and a dry, protected area to shelter from the driving wind and rain in the damp winter months.
In poor weather conditions, your field shelter provides the perfect area to feed your horse its hay net to prevent the hay from becoming damp or muddied and for securing a salt lick to prevent it from corrosion.
Great for donkeys, sheep, alpacas, etc too!
Please note: Field Shelter should be positioned with the back of the shelter facing the most common direction of the wind.
Our Timber Products
All our products are completely unique to Dunster House and are manufactured by our dedicated factories.
Log Cabins and other garden products are typically made from 2 types of softwood – Redwood (Pine) or Whitewood (Spruce). We make our products using whitewood, as, despite being more expensive it is considered to be more stable against warps and splits than redwood.
Our timber is responsibly sourced from cold northern regions where the timber grows slowly. We all know the old adage of counting the rings to see how old a tree is. Well our timber grows slower, takes longer to get to size and so has more rings in it. This means it is tighter grained, as each ring helps prevent cracks and shakes appearing in the timber.
Spruce is a whitewood, which is generally considered more stable as it expands and contracts less than Pine, which a lot of our competition use. If you live in a timber frame house the timber framing is highly likely to be spruce as the construction industry has long understood the superiority of spruce over pine in their requirement for a stable, strong softwood as they don't want service calls from cracked plasterwork as the timber moves behind it.

Why Buy From Dunster House?
All our products are unique to Dunster House
Our belief that price-wise customers don’t simply want low budget options has been Dunster House’s prevailing recipe for success. Our product names are now registered trademarks to prevent imitations and protect our good reputation from being damaged by inferior products being marketed as if they are the same. Our family manufactures a wide range of attractive, expert quality garden products at low prices. Beware imitations!!!
Open 7 days a week and have our own show sites
Customers are always welcome to come and view our products for themselves. There is a huge difference in quality between various manufacturers. A show site offers you the chance to see and experience exactly what you’ll be getting. Our showrooms ensure that you have an opportunity to see, touch and get a feel for our products before purchase. We are not an internet-only company; a lot of internet companies do not have show sites or a registered address beyond a PO Box. Buying on the internet certainly has its advantages but ensure a company is prepared to back this service up by spending time answering questions and showing you around. Even if you decide to forego this part, it’s reassuring to know there’s no veil between what’s being offered on the internet and its reality.
We hold stock
This allows us to be more flexible with deliveries and give a faster turnaround.
We prototype our products in one of our factories first
Our customers are not guinea pigs. Some smaller companies make to order, meaning that your order is potentially the first one of that design they have ever built.
We are the manufacturers
We are the experts and we give the best value. We are unique in this regard. The family that owns Dunster House also owns the manufacturers. Our directors and employees frequently visit the manufacturers to ensure the good quality of our products.

Concrete Base:
When placing this stable on a concrete base, it is recommended that you take your workshed size and add 100mm all the way round to calculate the size of the base required, for example:
-
A 4m x 3m would need a base approximately 4200mm wide x 3200mm deep.
-
For a 4m x 3m plus 1.5m decking the base would need to be approximately 4200mm wide x 4700mm deep.
-
For a 9m x 3m the base would need to be approximately 9200mm wide x 3200mm deep.
-
These sizes are the minimum sized base needed for these particular cabins.
