What is the best way to prepare a base for my Log Cabin or Garden Office?

For your Log Cabin, we recommend one of our RapidPad™ foundation Systems.

We have a unique range of Foundations here at Dunster House Ltd which we have designed alongside most of our Garden Buildings so that they are very quick and easy to install and very cost effective.

Look at the ‘Foundation Options’ listed in the Optional Extras section of the product that you are interested in to find out more.

If your ground conditions are not suitable for a RapidPad due to steeper slopes or unstable ground then you may find a reinforced concrete foundation is a more viable alternative.

If laying a concrete footing we would suggest you add 100mm all the way round the sizes given for a cabin to help spread the weight of the building, for example:

  • A 4m x 3m would need a base approximately 4200mm wide x 3200mm deep.
  • For a 4m x 3m plus 1.5m decking the base would need to be approximately 4200mm wide x 4700mm deep.
  • For a 9m x 3m the base would need to be approximately 9200mm wide x 3200mm deep.
  • These sizes are the minimum sized base needed for these particular cabins.
