Log Cabin case study - Carsare 250 45mm with Optional Roof Felt
Last Updated: Friday, 27 August 2010, 09:50 AMRead about one of Dunster Houses installations of a 3.5m x 2.5m Carsare!
Timber is offloaded log by log to have the opportunity to check each timber.
Timber is neatly laid out in the garden ready to begin.
Floor bearers are screwed together to create a stable base. This customer used paving slabs which you can use, or alternatively you can purchase our RapidPad™ foundation system which forms a base for your cabin, as well as giving an insulated floor. Click here for full details
The building of the walls is the next step. This is done by individual timbers being slotted together using a tongue & groove fitting.
The window & door frames are put into place before continuing to build the walls.
Purlins are placed on top to support the roofing. Roof boards are then nailed on.
As the frames are already there, it is time to fit the doors & Window.
Floorboards are securely nailed to the bearers to create a nice, sturdy floor.
If Dunster House install your cabin, or if you purchase roof shingles, a sheet of roof membrane is put over the top of the cabin; this is used to protect your cabin from any leaks.
To finish off the cabins installation, roof felt is nailed in to the roof boards.
And it’s complete! The cabin is finally finished and ready for use. What better way to celebrate than with a glass of wine, sitting in a new log cabin, on an amazing summer’s day.
Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Mosedale for the kind use of their pictures.
