Forget laying a concrete base, go for our Premier Rapidpads™ Range!

This Unique Range from Dunster House Ltd (Registered Design, Patent Pending) allows you to choose your foundations to suit your budget and requirements.

Benefits for Premier RapidPads:

  1. Our Premier Rapidpad™ system is great value for money when compared to concrete and other alternatives. Especially when you consider the time/cost saved in its quick installation.

  2. What really saves you time with the Premier and Deluxe RapidPads is how quick they are to get level. They have a central 22mm thick bolt on each Pad which allows the upper metal plate that sits under the bearers to be easily jacked up and down by simply turning the nuts on the bolt. So level the four corners of your building using a 6ft level across the bearers and then just tighten up all the other pads so that they rest under the other bearers, and you’re done. Quick and easy leveling which is typically done in under 10 minutes.

  3. When building a foundation our customers want to be able to put something in place quickly and easily. Weighing in at just 6kg each, our Premier Rapidpads™ are the lightest adjustable spot foundation available and are easy to put into place and adjust.

  4. Save Time, Effort and Skip Hire costs– This system requires very little digging out compared to conventional bases such as concrete or even railway sleepers. Just 450mm x 350mm x 40mm per pad, meaning only a tiny fraction of the cart away compared to older methods.

  5. There is a wide range of adjustment on our Premier Rapidpads™ with the lowest height being 85mm and the highest being 195mm allowing for 110mm of difference in height over the area where the building is situated, so it can cope with slight slopes and uneven ground. Please note: this cannot cope with steep slopes, see more information on suitable sites below.

  6. The pads, metal plates, nuts and bolts within our pad foundations are all made from Galvanised steel so they are built to last a very long time – we guarantee them for 12 years against structural failure from corrosion (Please note that we cannot guarantee against subsidence and ground slip as this is dependent upon your ground conditions).

  7. Pea Shingles Included, so you don’t have to co-ordinate deliveries with other suppliers.

  8. The Difference between the Premier and the Deluxe RapidPad system is that the Premier range uses Noggins instead of the Structurally Insulated Panels to add strength to the floor. Noggins are essentially extra bearers that string between the existing bearers of your Garden Building and add strength to the floor spanning between the Pads. The Noggins are made from 70x35mm pressure treated timber and are supplied in lengths of 2.4m that need to be cut on site to fit between the floor bearers of your log cabin and screwed into place (instructions provided).

  9. Our Buildings and our RapidPad foundations have been designed alongside each other, which is evident when you assemble the products. We’ve made locating your Deluxe or Premier RapidPads simple by pre-drilling all of the bearers on the ranges of buildings these are offered with to accept the bolts on the Premier and Deluxe RapidPad systems. So you can line up these holes with the bolts and simply slot them together. This makes setting out and assembly easier and quicker.

What’s Included?

The Premier RapidPad kit includes all the parts you need to build a foundation for your Dunster House Garden Building as shown in the step by step pictures above. This is: The Heavy Duty Plastic Grids, The Galvanised Metal adjustable Pads, the Pea Shingles and the Noggins and fixings.

What sites is this suitable for?

The Premier Rapidpad™ Foundations are designed to work in Medium firmness ground conditions. To give you an idea of the types of pressure exerted on the ground one pad may be required to hold about 200kg of weight when a building has furniture within it and is subject to uneven loads across the pads. This is about the same as two grown men standing on a slab the size of a paving slab (300mm x 400mm) and equates to a force of just over 16Kpa. Typically foundations for larger structures like houses may require 100Kpa which is why the foundations are dug down to consolidated ground. In the case of our foundations simply digging down 30-40mm on a medium firm ground and then tamping with the head of a sledgehammer is perfectly sufficient to hold the building stable.

The Premier Rapidpad™ Foundation System will be suitable for most, but not every garden. It is not suitable for areas prone to water logged ground conditions or marsh, peat or recently disturbed ground. If you feel unsure if your ground is suitable for foundations exerting approx. 17Kpa of pressure, please employ a local site surveyor prior to purchasing.

Also not suitable for exposed sites with high wind speeds. This is a product for a typical garden where shelter from the wind is provided by fences, walls, trees and houses for example. Our buildings themselves are also unsuitable for high wind loads in exposed areas in any case.

Examples of ground that is and isn’t suitable from a leveling point of view are shown below:

This ground is OK

rapidpad diagram 1

The above diagram shows ground that is within the range of 85mm to 195mm down from the level of the bearers. You may also notice that the ground in between the first and second pad is almost at the height of the level shown, this is fine as the bottom of the bearers only starts at the line marked level.

This ground is NOT suitable

rapidpad diagram 2

The above diagram gives an example of ground which is too uneven. In this example the two extreme extents of the pads adjustability are shown to the right (85mm) and left (195mm) of the diagram but the pads in between are too far below the level and if jacked up to 195mm high they would not reach the level.

This ground is OK

rapidpad diagram 3

The above diagram shows ground which is sloping but the slope is within the range of adjustability that the pads can cope with. Over the entirety of the length of the ground from one end of the building to the other the height on one side is 85mm from the level, and the height on the other side is up to 195mm from the level so the adjustment available with the Premier RapidPads™ will be able to cope with this slope.

This ground is NOT suitable

rapidpad diagram 4
The above diagram shows a slope that is too steep for the Premier RapidPad™ foundation system. The distance from the level on one side is 85mm but the height difference between the ground and the level on the other side is too much as it is greater than 195mm.

Each pad allows a maximum of 110mm of adjustment in height, the lowest point is 85mm from the ground and the highest point is 195mm from the ground. Please note this means the overall height of the product will be raised by at least 85mm.
