How to Comply with the HEART Standard

HOW TO COMPLY WITH THE H.E.A.R.T STANDARD

H.E.A.R.T StandardThe Housing, Enrichment and Amenity for Rabbits: Technical Standard (H.E.A.R.T) is an interpretation of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 Section 9.(2), in relation specifically to the welfare of pet rabbits. A collation of research, testing and evidence from professionals, it is the only scientifically proven specification of minimum humane requirements for outdoor accommodation of domestic rabbits. This Scientific research is Open Access, and completely free. We're giving it away, as the charitable Company owner cares about stopping cruelty to rabbits, and wants to prevent the sale of inadequate and unsafe pet accommodation.

The H.E.A.R.T Standard works on a grading system, that assesses the level of compliance the product has in meeting each welfare need of domestic rabbits (in aline with the Animal Welfare Act), with each element being given a grade to indicate how well it meets the minimum requirements. We're providing a program where manuafacturers/retailers can enter information about their rabbit housing to generate the graphics to print out stickers to display on their products, to show how they are graded, and to what extent they comply with the H.E.A.R.T Standard. Displaying the gradings will help inform consumers on rabbit welfare, and let them know exactly what they are buying.
