If Dunster House are installing the product what Space do I need to have for the Dunster House Installer Team?
We are always keen to do a good professional installation for our customers and we train our installers well to make sure this happens.
We also need to look after our installers and ensure that they have a safe environment to install the products in.
We take Health and Safety very seriously at Dunster House Ltd and use landing bags to surround the building to keep our employees safe whilst they work on the roof of your Garden Building. These bags require a certain amount of space to accommodate them.
This differs between the products (although all products require 1.5m of space towards the front).
LIENNE GARDEN OFFICES AND ALEXANDER GARDEN OFFICES:
These only require 600mm of clear space from the edge of the roof overhang to any obstruction. The size shown as the ‘External Size’ in the specification for the product gives the overall roof size, so you need to allow 600mm either side of this and also 600mm to the back and 1.5m to the front.
We do not need to go on the roof to build these products so they only require 450mm from the edge of the roof overhang to give enough space to build them. The overall size of the roof overhang is given as the ‘External Size’ in the specification for the product so you need to allow 450mm all round from this as well as 1.5m towards the front section.
We do not need to go on the roof to build these products so they only require 600mm to give enough space to build them. The ‘External Size’ of the product is shown in the specification; simply add 600mm to the back and sides as well as 1.5m to the front to find the space needed to accommodate this.
All other products including: LOG CABINS, SUMMERHOUSES, GREENHOUSE/SHED COMBO’S, SHEDS, GAZEBOS, GARAGES require spaces as shown below, which differs depending upon which side/s has apexes and which side/s has eaves.
There needs to be at least 1.2m of unobstructed space from any wall with an eave;
Side view: Wall with Eave
There needs to be at least 0.6m of unobstructed space from any wall with an apex.
Side view: Wall with Apex
ALL MEASUREMENTS are from the wall of the Garden Building not from the roof overhang. The ‘External Size’ given in the specification for these products will show you the ‘wall size’ so simply add the 600mm, 1.2m or 1.5m to those sizes given.
Regardless of roof type/orientation there needs to be at least 1.5m of space at the front of where the Garden Building will be assembled. This is simply to have enough space to install the product.
Here are some top down views to further help explain the spaces required:
This is a Gabled style roof orientated with the apexes to the sides. The roof ridge is shown by the line in the middle of the roof running left to right.
This orientation has the eaves at the front and back of the Garden Building and the apexes to the sides. The measurements are actually from the walls rather than from the edge of the roof overhang but it is hard to illustrate this looking down from the top.
This is a Gabled style roof orientated with the apexes to the front and back. The roof ridge is shown by the line in the middle of the roof running front to back.
This orientation has the apexes at the front and back of the Garden Building and the eaves to the sides. Once again the measurements are actually from the walls rather than from the edge of the roof overhang but it is hard to illustrate this looking down from the top.
There are also some styles of roofs that we offer which have the eaves all the way round the building such as
Hipped roof or Pyramid= Eaves all round Hexagonal Roof = Eaves all round
In these cases 1.2m is the minimum space required all round the building with the 1.5m requirement at the front.
The spaces shown above allow the placement of the soft landing bags which will keep our installers safe in the event of slipping off the roof but there are also some other requirements to both keep them safe and ensure there is enough room to build the Garden Building.
There needs to be no dangerous obstructions such as Greenhouses or other glass structures, impaling hazards such as upstanding rods or individual posts within 2m of any side of where the Garden Building is to be assembled.
There needs to be no unreasonable obstructions, slip or trip hazards between the area of unloading and the area of installation. A reasonable obstruction could be a set of steps or an incline up to 1 in 4; an unreasonable obstruction could be uncovered excavations, trailing wires or immovable objects blocking the path of our installers. We don’t expect a perfectly level path exactly 1m wide along its entire length to get from one area to the other, but we also don’t expect a building site with site machinery driving everywhere and uncovered excavations and other hazards, or a craggy mountain path.
There needs to be no overhanging trees or other obstructions (except live cables) within 2m vertically of any part of the Garden Building to be assembled. This is because our installers will be climbing on the roof and need to be able to move freely whilst doing so.
There needs to be no live cables (except underground cables) within 8m vertically and within 10m horizontally of any part of the Garden Building to be assembled.
There are also other requirements such as access to and use of electricity, water, and toilets. Please read our installations terms and conditions to find out more.
Please be aware that our installers will check the spaces available when they arrive on site and if they find that there is not sufficient space as outlined above we will charge you our reasonable costs should they need to leave site.
Caution: leaving this page will unreserved the delivery date. Changing the product or any details of the order will mean the delivery dates will need to be rechecked.
