  • Avoid planning permission
This building is under 2.5m high.
Why does this matter? Well, under permitted development rights buildings under 2.5m high can be placed as close as you want to a boundary (eg. a fence line) without planning permission. Buildings that are over 2.5m high, however, need to be placed over 2m away from any boundary (eg. a fence line), which means that with taller buildings you end up with a lot of space behind them. If you want to find out more about permitted development rights see our planning guide
  • Adjustable storm braces
Our adjustable storm braces tie the log cabin roof to the rest of the building so it withstands stronger winds. Unlike other cabins on the market they are adjustable to allow for the natural movement of the cabin which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move.
  • Slow Grown Spruce
We use slow grown spruce for the walls of all our log cabins as it is better all round than pine! Spruce is less porous than Pine and so less likely to shrink, warp or split. We only select slowly grown timber from colder climates which also helps keep the timber more stable as the rings are densely packed. It is also a less resinous timber than Pine, which makes the possibility of sap ruining your clothes or furnishings much less likely.
  • 4mm toughened glass
We use 4mm toughened glass in our windows and doors for increased safety and security. It's much better than 3mm horticultural glass, commonly found in garden buildings, as it's a lot harder to break, and if ever it is broken it breaks into small pieces rather than large shards. It is also much harder to scratch than the plastic alternatives, styrene, acrylic and perspex, so will preserve your clear view out for far longer.
    Pressure treated bearers
By pressure treating our floor bearers we protect the lowest part of the building from rot and insect infestation. This forces the treatment deep into the timber using a large pressure treatment tank. Due to this costly but effective process we can offer our customers a genuine 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on the bearers with no need for the customer to re-treat this timber at any point during that time.
    10 year timber guarantee?
Other companies claim that they offer a 10 year Guarantee on their untreated timber. If you read the small print, you'll find that these Guarantees are pointless. They cover the cabin against rot and insect infestation only if you, the customer, treat the cabin every year with a good quality preservative. Why are these Companies offering a Guarantee for something that you are going to have to do yourself? How could you prove you had treated it if you tried to make a claim? We don't offer pointless Guarantees. We guarantee that our pressure treated timber and our galvanised metal will last for 10 years without yearly labour from you.
  • Customise your design
Our Log Cabins have been designed to fit any garden and accommodate any personal preferences. Where our pictures show the doors on either the left or the right hand side of the front elevation if you want the doors on the other side of the front elevation simply reverse the position of the front wall logs when you build it. You can choose between a traditional or modern style, depending on the type of roof you prefer, and with or without Georgian Bars, to suit your taste.
  • Tall walkthrough height
With our extra tall doors, unless you are over 1.86m (6'1") tall you can walk right the way through without any danger of bumping your head.
  • Avoid sagging roofs
Our heavy duty 140mm or 210mm high by 45mm wide supporting roof beams prevent unsightly sagging.
    4 Point Door locking system
Our PremiumPlus doors feature our industry leading four point locking system. It features a hook, locking latch and two roller locks. We use a type of lock that has 6 pins and has been tested to BSEN 1303:2005 classification to ensure it is a safer, more secure locking system. Our Premiumplus windows have multipoint locking as well, using the same type of system as we supply with our uPVC windows and doors.
  • Optional 24mm Double Glazing
The double glazing option on PremiumPlus Log Cabins is an industry leading 24mm thick. We make these sealed units ourselves to European Standard EN1279. Made up of 4mm toughened glass, 16mm spacer and another piece of 4mm toughened glass. It's an excellent way of insulating your cabin and extending its usage from a seasonal building to one that can be used throughout the year.
  • Adjustable Hinges/Friction Stays
Our PremiumPlus doors feature easily adjustable hinges allowing you to make minor changes if ever required. The windows on this range have the same friction stays as we supply on our uPVC windows, meaning that you can open the window and leave it open with just the hinges taking the load, with no need for a stay arm. These sets of hinges are stylish and supremely user friendly.

Having searched the internet for some time we decided that the Dunster House range offered the best option for our purpose. Having recently given up smoking I saved money towards a cabin to have as an art studio/hobby room. Delivery was excellent and the tracker on line was a great help in making sure we were at home when the driver arrived. I have built the cabin myself, the majority of the build was over a weekend and then we decorated the following weekend. Finished now apart from waiting to have some electric sockets and lighting fitted. Overall we are extremely happy with our cabin and the service we have received from Dunster House.

Delivery on time. Once timbers sorted assembly easy, 90% assembly done by myself, only required assistance for door assembly & roof insulation. Assembly video on Dunster site was very helpful. Very impressed with the finished cabin.

It took me a while looking around for the right summer house, I did a lot of research and Dunster House came out as the top option, the next was which one to choose - PremiumPlus Carsare Sunlight W3.5m x D2.5m, ... we are wanting to use this all year round so took the 45mm thick wood and double glazed options .. the kit was delivered and the next weekend was scheduled as build time ... I built this with the help of my son, definitely a 2 person job ... within 1/2 a day we had all of the sides up, the roof on and felted ... spent the rest of the day fitting the doors and window along with the glazing ... the next day the afternoon was spent putting the floor down and fitting the roof trim ... I would say it took another half day to get it all finished ready for treating ... I can say that a couple of weekends later it was all finished and ready for use ... I have not done one of these before however the whole experience had been excellent ... Ordering was easy, the kit was complete and relatively straight forward to put up ... an accomplished DIYer (which I class myself) would have no problems doing this ... One thing we did consider was an additional Window, on phoning Dunster House it was noted that the Kit was not already cut to take this window, having not done this before I decided against doing this ... in hind sight the fitting of the 2nd window would have been a relatively easy thing, so if this is on your list I would say go for it ... I would definitely recommend this product and Dunster House ...

Very pleased with the service from the sales team and the product. I only had one disappointing experience and that was with the receptionist who was less then helpful and seemed to be reciting from a text, and wasnt helpful at all .
By - Janeen Martin on Apr 09,15 Dunster House reply:
Dear Janeen, Thank you for your reivew. We are so please you are happy with your log cabin. We're sorry if you felt the service at reception was less than satisfactory. We spend a lot of time on training for all of the team with the intention of ensuring a consistent high quality of service throughout. We are sorry if in this instance it seemed to be too scripted.

You do need some carpentry skills to assemble this cabin. It is beautifully and cleverly designed and all the wonderfully machined pieces slot together so well. The windows and doors are perfectly crafted. When you see all the items delivered onto your property you can't help but think that you get huge amount for your money. A fraction of the cost of say a conservatory. I am one happy customer!!
