  • Avoid planning permission
This building is under 2.5m high.
Why does this matter? Well, under permitted development rights buildings under 2.5m high can be placed as close as you want to a boundary (eg. a fence line) without planning permission. Buildings that are over 2.5m high, however, need to be placed over 2m away from any boundary (eg. a fence line), which means that with taller buildings you end up with a lot of space behind them. If you want to find out more about permitted development rights see our planning guide
  • Adjustable storm braces
Our adjustable storm braces tie the log cabin roof to the rest of the building so it withstands stronger winds. Unlike other cabins on the market they are adjustable to allow for the natural movement of the cabin which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move.
  • Slow Grown Spruce
We use slow grown spruce for the walls of all our log cabins as it is better all round than pine! Spruce is less porous than Pine and so less likely to shrink, warp or split. We only select slowly grown timber from colder climates which also helps keep the timber more stable as the rings are densely packed. It is also a less resinous timber than Pine, which makes the possibility of sap ruining your clothes or furnishings much less likely.
  • 4mm toughened glass
We use 4mm toughened glass in our windows and doors for increased safety and security. It's much better than 3mm horticultural glass, commonly found in garden buildings, as it's a lot harder to break, and if ever it is broken it breaks into small pieces rather than large shards. It is also much harder to scratch than the plastic alternatives, styrene, acrylic and perspex, so will preserve your clear view out for far longer.
  •

    Pressure treated bearers

By pressure treating our floor bearers we protect the lowest part of the building from rot and insect infestation. This forces the treatment deep into the timber using a large pressure treatment tank. Due to this costly but effective process we can offer our customers a genuine 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on the bearers with no need for the customer to re-treat this timber at any point during that time.
  •

    10 year timber guarantee?

Other companies claim that they offer a 10 year Guarantee on their untreated timber. If you read the small print, you'll find that these Guarantees are pointless. They cover the cabin against rot and insect infestation only if you, the customer, treat the cabin every year with a good quality preservative. Why are these Companies offering a Guarantee for something that you are going to have to do yourself? How could you prove you had treated it if you tried to make a claim? We don't offer pointless Guarantees. We guarantee that our pressure treated timber and our galvanised metal will last for 10 years without yearly labour from you.
  • Customise your design
Our Log Cabins have been designed to fit any garden and accommodate any personal preferences. Where our pictures show the doors on either the left or the right hand side of the front elevation if you want the doors on the other side of the front elevation simply reverse the position of the front wall logs when you build it. You can choose between a traditional or modern style, depending on the type of roof you prefer, and with or without Georgian Bars, to suit your taste.
  • Tall walkthrough height
With our extra tall doors, unless you are over 1.86m (6'1") tall you can walk right the way through without any danger of bumping your head.
  • Avoid sagging roofs
Our heavy duty 140mm or 210mm high by 45mm wide supporting roof beams prevent unsightly sagging.
  •

    4 Point Door locking system

Our PremiumPlus doors feature our industry leading four point locking system. It features a hook, locking latch and two roller locks. We use a type of lock that has 6 pins and has been tested to BSEN 1303:2005 classification to ensure it is a safer, more secure locking system. Our Premiumplus windows have multipoint locking as well, using the same type of system as we supply with our uPVC windows and doors.
  • Optional 24mm Double Glazing
The double glazing option on PremiumPlus Log Cabins is an industry leading 24mm thick. We make these sealed units ourselves to European Standard EN1279. Made up of 4mm toughened glass, 16mm spacer and another piece of 4mm toughened glass. It's an excellent way of insulating your cabin and extending its usage from a seasonal building to one that can be used throughout the year.
  • Adjustable Hinges/Friction Stays
Our PremiumPlus doors feature easily adjustable hinges allowing you to make minor changes if ever required. The windows on this range have the same friction stays as we supply on our uPVC windows, meaning that you can open the window and leave it open with just the hinges taking the load, with no need for a stay arm. These sets of hinges are stylish and supremely user friendly.

We are very pleased with our new Summer House I have attached photos of it completed
By - patricia judson on Aug 25,16

We bought this in August 2015 and have taken our time building it, did it all ourselves and gained a lot of satisfaction, we also boarded, plastered and part papered the walls. The end result is very pleasing and we would recommend this cabin. In our honest opinion, although it comes with instructions, these are by no means comprehensive step by step paint by numbers type, the instructions describe the method of assembly and then assumes a minimum medium level of previous knowledge and experience in techniques and usage of tools, which are definitely needed if you are to be able to complete the task yourself, having said that we are competent DIYers and did make a few mistakes ourselves along the way however it was quite easy to work out and once we got it right it went together easy, rule of thumb, brute force equals got it wrong! Be careful with the base and make sure it is level as this will throw the build out and cause issues Sofas delivered today and we are now looking forward to many hours relaxing in our new garden room with a glass or two of wine

I just wanted to thank you for the help gave me to successfully constructing our summer house. It is now complete and we are very pleased with it - it 'exceeds expectations!' You and all Dunster staff have done a very good job and I will recommend you to others. Best wishes for Christmas and a successful 2016!

I am truly delighted with my new hut in the garden. I wanted a space in which I can draw and paint (a newly discovered, rather messy hobby), to teach guitar and somewhere we can just go and be. It has given me all this and so much more. Each time I step inside I feel as if I am on holiday! Wonderful. Thank you.

We have had a great time putting together our log cabin. We are up to the roof level but not quite ready for the roof shingles yet, however I do feel at this stage I can reasonably say we are more than happy with this product. We have had very good service all the way along from our Sales girl Carly to Keith in customer service who acted swiftly to rectify the couple of damaged pieces we had received. I had read some not so agreeable reviews about the system Dunster House use for customer services,ie by email or written requests only, but would say that with the number of different lengths of wood you have and the intricate cut outs therein trying to deal with problems by phone would be quite unsatisfactory. I had replies to any emails I sent within a couple of hours and dealt with one person only. My husband and I are looking forward to our first glass of red wine on our new sofa in our beautiful Summer House very soon.
