  • Avoid planning permission
This building is under 2.5m high.
Why does this matter? Well, under permitted development rights buildings under 2.5m high can be placed as close as you want to a boundary (eg. a fence line) without planning permission. Buildings that are over 2.5m high, however, need to be placed over 2m away from any boundary (eg. a fence line), which means that with taller buildings you end up with a lot of space behind them. If you want to find out more about permitted development rights see our planning guide
  • Adjustable storm braces
Our adjustable storm braces tie the log cabin roof to the rest of the building so it withstands stronger winds. Unlike other cabins on the market they are adjustable to allow for the natural movement of the cabin which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move.
  • Slow Grown Spruce
We use slow grown spruce for the walls of all our log cabins as it is better all round than pine! Spruce is less porous than Pine and so less likely to shrink, warp or split. We only select slowly grown timber from colder climates which also helps keep the timber more stable as the rings are densely packed. It is also a less resinous timber than Pine, which makes the possibility of sap ruining your clothes or furnishings much less likely.
  • 4mm toughened glass
We use 4mm toughened glass in our windows and doors for increased safety and security. It's much better than 3mm horticultural glass, commonly found in garden buildings, as it's a lot harder to break, and if ever it is broken it breaks into small pieces rather than large shards. It is also much harder to scratch than the plastic alternatives, styrene, acrylic and perspex, so will preserve your clear view out for far longer.
    Pressure treated bearers
By pressure treating our floor bearers we protect the lowest part of the building from rot and insect infestation. This forces the treatment deep into the timber using a large pressure treatment tank. Due to this costly but effective process we can offer our customers a genuine 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on the bearers with no need for the customer to re-treat this timber at any point during that time.
    10 year timber guarantee?
Other companies claim that they offer a 10 year Guarantee on their untreated timber. If you read the small print, you'll find that these Guarantees are pointless. They cover the cabin against rot and insect infestation only if you, the customer, treat the cabin every year with a good quality preservative. Why are these Companies offering a Guarantee for something that you are going to have to do yourself? How could you prove you had treated it if you tried to make a claim? We don't offer pointless Guarantees. We guarantee that our pressure treated timber and our galvanised metal will last for 10 years without yearly labour from you.
  • Customise your design
Our Log Cabins have been designed to fit any garden and accommodate any personal preferences. Where our pictures show the doors on either the left or the right hand side of the front elevation if you want the doors on the other side of the front elevation simply reverse the position of the front wall logs when you build it. You can choose between a traditional or modern style, depending on the type of roof you prefer, and with or without Georgian Bars, to suit your taste.
  • Tall walkthrough height
With our extra tall doors, unless you are over 1.86m (6'1") tall you can walk right the way through without any danger of bumping your head.
  • Avoid sagging roofs
Our heavy duty 140mm or 210mm high by 45mm wide supporting roof beams prevent unsightly sagging.
    4 Point Door locking system
Our PremiumPlus doors feature our industry leading four point locking system. It features a hook, locking latch and two roller locks. We use a type of lock that has 6 pins and has been tested to BSEN 1303:2005 classification to ensure it is a safer, more secure locking system. Our Premiumplus windows have multipoint locking as well, using the same type of system as we supply with our uPVC windows and doors.
  • Optional 24mm Double Glazing
The double glazing option on PremiumPlus Log Cabins is an industry leading 24mm thick. We make these sealed units ourselves to European Standard EN1279. Made up of 4mm toughened glass, 16mm spacer and another piece of 4mm toughened glass. It's an excellent way of insulating your cabin and extending its usage from a seasonal building to one that can be used throughout the year.
  • Adjustable Hinges/Friction Stays
Our PremiumPlus doors feature easily adjustable hinges allowing you to make minor changes if ever required. The windows on this range have the same friction stays as we supply on our uPVC windows, meaning that you can open the window and leave it open with just the hinges taking the load, with no need for a stay arm. These sets of hinges are stylish and supremely user friendly.

Average Seller Rating:

Hello, my name is Mr G West of Perranporth Cornwall. I recently purchased a Rhine Premium Plus log cabin from you,(SO132933) and I am near completion of this marvellous building.May I take this opportunity to praise your entire company for their courtesy and helpful service throughout, and the very high quality of your products. It's been a great pleasure erecting the cabin, and every one of my friends that have seen it agree that it is Quality.I must also praise your delivery driver Dan Green for his hard work unloading, despite the shower of rain we had half way through. Although he got drenched, he remained cheerful and courteous to the end. Once again, many thanks. I will be recommending Dunster House to everyone from now on.

A first class service and extremely well engineered product. Everything was complete, nothing missing or broken. Cannot fault Dunster House. Follow the instructions and you cannot go wrong. If we wish to strive for absolute excellence, the threshold section was packed so well in the door header section we couldn't find it until after we constructed the gable on top of it? Instructions were a little `general' for this section. Tip! Lay out every piece, it saves lots of time. I would buy again and thoroughly recommend this product. Engineered to perfection!

A truly fantastic cabin which sits perfectly at the end of our garden. We purchased this at the end of summer and are looking forward to getting full use of it this coming year. The delivery went smoothly and they arrived on the day allocated and even telephoned an hour beforehand. I was surprised by the volume of timbers when it was all unloaded and left on the driveway. We soon got to grips with slotting the timbers together and it soon began to build up around us. The window frames slotted into place as you built up the walls - so easy and neat. One of the window panes had a small mark between the two panes of glass. A quick phone call was made and a replacement was on its way. Very pleased with our purchase and can't wait to enjoy it this year

The cabin itself I really love. It is solid and sturdy and the quality is very good. However the reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that the instructions need improvement. . A lot of important detail is missing. Steps appear not to be in order and the way some things are phrased are very misleading. We wasted a lot if time because things hadn't been explained and we had to dismantle parts of the cabin in order to rectify. I strongly recommend watching the YouTube video first, something sadly we only discovered st the end. My husband and I are very practical people yet because of the inadequate instructions we did struggle with certain things (like the fact the apexes need unscrewing before you fit them no the last logs and that the doors and windows need fitting once only three long gas are down, and we are still at a loss about the window trims- do we have too many pieces or not enough?? There are no instructions about this and no parts list so we just dont know). It had taken us two weekends ( in November , so short days ) to put up. I think we would have done it in half that time with clear and complete instructions.

Dear Nicola. Thank you for your review and your comments. We will take all of your suggestions into consideration and look into improving our instruction manual.

A brilliant product and a fantastic company, I would certainly recommend. The staff at Dunster House have been 5* from the onset. All staff whom I liaised with were friendly and very helpful throughout. Sales staff were first class, helping me to get the right product at the best price. The order was delivered quickly and the delivery staff were extremely helpful. I am extremely impressed with the quality of the cabin. Such a good looking product has certainly helped me to boost my business.

Love the cabin! The sales process was very smooth and no pressure at all ( thanks Samson). The guys that came to build were prompt and very easy to work with. We cut in a window towards the back to bring in more light which works really well. One downside, whilst we have double glazing throughout, i will still need to do my own draft proofing before the winter comes for sure and there are gaps in the french doors. However, in the great scheme of things, it doesn't really matter. This log cabin is an office, occasional bedroom, cinema for the kids... Best decision we ever made - Recommended!

Kit was delivered on time and stacked so that items needed first were to hand. Good quality wood with no warped components and comprehensive instructions. Rapid pad system easy to use on undulating/sloping site but finished height is greater than expected and adjustable pads unavoidably stick out at the sides. Construction was quick and easy for a couple of 'elderly pensioners' with everything finishing level and square. Doors fit well with a tight seal and hinge adjustment is easy. Very pleased with the finished product.

Good product,no issues with the log cabin. Only issue was the included build instructions, some improvement needed there.
By - Robert Ormsby on Nov 10,16 Dunster House reply:
Hi Robert, Thank you for your review and your suggestions. We will take them into consideration but we do alert all of our customers that they need to have enough experience in DIY to build one of our garden buildings.

The delivery men from Dunsterhouse were amazing took best part of 2 hours, they sorted into correct sections. The Build quality is superb, instructions could be a bit clearer but assembly took about 1.5 days including the shingles was hard work but the results made this well worth the effort. Everyone who has seen it loves it, a beautiful place to be. Thank you Dunster House

Grade A Quality - Fantastic value for money - its a lot bigger inside than it looks in the photos plus no need for sound proofing as the 4.5cm walls keep most of the sound in i.e for playing music etc - overall very happy thanks
By - Nicholas Taylor on Nov 08,16

Right from the ordering system through to delivery Dunster House were a great company to deal with and communication was very good. We had an issue with a missing part and a damaged part, but this was sorted out straight away, which made a nice change. The instructions were clear enough and the cabin was a doddle to put up, I managed to get it all up single handed in a couple of days, the end result was amazing and has turn into the wife and mine's own personal retreat away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and is the perfect setting for our hot tub, everybody has commented on the quality of the cabin, we couldn't be happier with it and we keep recommending Dunster House to our friends.

By - graham keates on Oct 30,16

we are very happy with the log cabin that we bought off you we had a carpenter to help us put the main frame together owing to myself not getting it square once we got it square it went up prity quick. thank you
By - simon harris on Oct 28,16

The Main Cabin very satisfactory, good quality. Unfortunately it is let down by the quality of the doors & window, relatively flimsey compared to the main cabin. The double glazed windows naturaly have some associated weight and this puts a strain on the hanging of the doors. Security of the doors and windows is not good with hinges on the outside as anyone with a cordless screwdriver would be inside in a few minutes! It has been necessary to put a cup headed bolt through to the inside with lock nuts,2 on each hinge to give some security as this was purchased for use as a hobby cabin and has items of some value in it. surely quality Butt Hinges would be a better choice despite not being so aesthetically pleasing.
By - John Huddleston on Oct 26,16 Dunster House reply:
Dear John. Thank you for your review. We have a PremiumPlus range of Log Cabins that includes extra and premium features for the windows and doors, including a industry leading multipoint locking system instead of gate hinges.

I fitted my Dunster House log cabin recently, and the quality of the product, together with the easy to understand instructions, has made me feel very pleased that I chose this quality product. The staff at Dunster have all been very helpful, and professional. Roland Marchant, Kent.
By - Roland Marchant on Oct 25,16

Well, I was some what concerned at the thought of building the log cabin myself, this was due to the quoted erection price being over a £1000.00 and this took us over budget. BUT fear not, it was easy, providing you have a flat base (we did have) The assembly instructions are a bit back to front in places and I would recommend that you read these carefully or maybe DUNSTER HOUSE could realign these a lot better. Any way the quality and engineering behind the log cabin was phenomenal, we took 2 days to complete the base wood work with out the need to saw or cut anything !!! Well done on that score DUNSTER HOUSE. The floor had to be cut to final sides but again only on the last floor planks. We asked for the shingle roof and that took a day but worth while having. The double glazed window units fitted again straight in and the roof spider and bolt system has to be one of the best features of the DUNSTER HOUSE log cabins, other manufacturers have a crude screw through affair that is difficult to erect from what I have seen and heard again a good piece of engineering. All in all we are over the moon with the cabin and the service we received from DUNSTER HOUSE. Keep it up Guys Peter Davey October 2016
By - Peter Davey on Oct 25,16 Dunster House reply:
Dear Peter. Thank you for your review. We are really glad that you're happy with your Log Cabin. Our installation service always depends on the customer's post code and address. We will take all of your feedback into consideration.

how brilliant is my beautiful cabin! wonderfully insulated and wax coated with Briwax on the inside, I have nothing but praise for this dunster house product. The wood was all good, the website helped me make the right choices, and apart from the hopeless delivery gps it was delivered by helpful communicative guys ahead of schedule and is now a good value for money extra room in our garden. It was straightforward to put together and the roofing materials, door and windows all good quality.

First of all we would like to thank you for our beautiful bar/lodge we have transformed our lodge into a bar for us and our family and friends to enjoy. We have had so many compliments on the style of our bar and it's much cheaper than going out to our local bars.
