  • Avoid planning permission
This building is under 2.5m high.
Why does this matter? Well, under permitted development rights buildings under 2.5m high can be placed as close as you want to a boundary (eg. a fence line) without planning permission. Buildings that are over 2.5m high, however, need to be placed over 2m away from any boundary (eg. a fence line), which means that with taller buildings you end up with a lot of space behind them. If you want to find out more about permitted development rights see our planning guide
  • Adjustable storm braces
Our adjustable storm braces tie the log cabin roof to the rest of the building so it withstands stronger winds. Unlike other cabins on the market they are adjustable to allow for the natural movement of the cabin which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move.
  • Slow Grown Spruce
We use slow grown spruce for the walls of all our log cabins as it is better all round than pine! Spruce is less porous than Pine and so less likely to shrink, warp or split. We only select slowly grown timber from colder climates which also helps keep the timber more stable as the rings are densely packed. It is also a less resinous timber than Pine, which makes the possibility of sap ruining your clothes or furnishings much less likely.
  • 4mm toughened glass
We use 4mm toughened glass in our windows and doors for increased safety and security. It's much better than 3mm horticultural glass, commonly found in garden buildings, as it's a lot harder to break, and if ever it is broken it breaks into small pieces rather than large shards. It is also much harder to scratch than the plastic alternatives, styrene, acrylic and perspex, so will preserve your clear view out for far longer.
    Pressure treated bearers
By pressure treating our floor bearers we protect the lowest part of the building from rot and insect infestation. This forces the treatment deep into the timber using a large pressure treatment tank. Due to this costly but effective process we can offer our customers a genuine 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on the bearers with no need for the customer to re-treat this timber at any point during that time.
    10 year timber guarantee?
Other companies claim that they offer a 10 year Guarantee on their untreated timber. If you read the small print, you'll find that these Guarantees are pointless. They cover the cabin against rot and insect infestation only if you, the customer, treat the cabin every year with a good quality preservative. Why are these Companies offering a Guarantee for something that you are going to have to do yourself? How could you prove you had treated it if you tried to make a claim? We don't offer pointless Guarantees. We guarantee that our pressure treated timber and our galvanised metal will last for 10 years without yearly labour from you.
  • Customise your design
Our Log Cabins have been designed to fit any garden and accommodate any personal preferences. Where our pictures show the doors on either the left or the right hand side of the front elevation if you want the doors on the other side of the front elevation simply reverse the position of the front wall logs when you build it. You can choose between a traditional or modern style, depending on the type of roof you prefer, and with or without Georgian Bars, to suit your taste.
  • Tall walkthrough height
With our extra tall doors, unless you are over 1.86m (6'1") tall you can walk right the way through without any danger of bumping your head.
  • Avoid sagging roofs
Our heavy duty 140mm or 210mm high by 45mm wide supporting roof beams prevent unsightly sagging.
    4 Point Door locking system
Our PremiumPlus doors feature our industry leading four point locking system. It features a hook, locking latch and two roller locks. We use a type of lock that has 6 pins and has been tested to BSEN 1303:2005 classification to ensure it is a safer, more secure locking system. Our Premiumplus windows have multipoint locking as well, using the same type of system as we supply with our uPVC windows and doors.
    Optional 24mm Double Glazing
The double glazing option on PremiumPlus Log Cabins is an industry leading 24mm thick. We make these sealed units ourselves to European Standard EN1279. Made up of 4mm toughened glass, 16mm spacer and another piece of 4mm toughened glass. It's an excellent way of insulating your cabin and extending its usage from a seasonal building to one that can be used throughout the year.
  • Adjustable Hinges/Friction Stays
Our PremiumPlus doors feature easily adjustable hinges allowing you to make minor changes if ever required. The windows on this range have the same friction stays as we supply on our uPVC windows, meaning that you can open the window and leave it open with just the hinges taking the load, with no need for a stay arm. These sets of hinges are stylish and supremely user friendly.

I love my new cabin its very spacious and yet does not dominate the garden. It seems very good value for money compared to others on the market.

It's taken a while to complete with the log store as well but absolutely delighted with my Log Cabin. It's well constructed and very solid and looks wonderful. The guys in both teams who came to install worked really hard to off load and put them up, so I am really pleased we didn't attempt to do either of these ourselves. There was an issue with our base, which was costly, so ensure your foundations are good and solid, the cabin carries a lot of weight so you need to get it right. It would be a great improvement, if the customer services department were a little more flexible in dealing with minor issues by phone instead of just email. This was quite frustrating on the small problem we had and could have been dealt with quite easily by phone. Also a charged consultation service by the Company for ground works would have helped us enormously from the start. If you are thinking of having a log cabin installed you won't be disappointed with this. It's a cosy garden room that can be enjoyed the whole year round for any purpose and looks really beautiful. Can't wait to put in the glowing log fire, rug and sofa.

Dear Kath. Thank you for your review. We are glad that you are happy with your Log Cabin. The reason why our customer service only deals with issues in writing is that it allows us and our customers to keep a record of what has been agreed and it also allows complex technical queries to be resolved with the correct department in a fast and efficient manner.

We absolutely love our new summer house. The guys had it fully assembled in 2 days (in spite of pouring rain) Its now all painted and looks amazing. Thank you to all the team at Dunster House for all the help and guidance when choosing my

Incredibly easy to assemble - 1 person 2 days including coffee breaks! Took an additional day to felt the roof and finish the gables and edges. Longest part was painting on the exterior protection - about 3 days. Tip: paint the window frames and doors without the glazing panels installed. The product I used was Sadolin Opaque varnish. It's not a paint but acts as an undercoat and primer, then the second coat finishes it off. It doesn't flake and retains flexibility so much better than ordinary paints. It costs a little more, but lasts up to 7 years before needing another coat. Definitely worth investing in this product. The summerhouse is a great addition to our lifestyle and no doubt adds to the overall value of the property.

Beautiful well-thought out design, quality materials, spacious interior. I'm very happy. Instructions were complex and difficult to follow, but use of their YouTube example helped as did a little common sense! End result is exactly as I dreamed of but didn't think was possible.

I work as a weight consultant. Being able to go in the garden and enjoy the sun between clients is fantastic and also my business was taking over my house; it's great to have the house back to ourselves. I never thought we would ever be able to afford something like this.

Wanted to let you know how pleased we are with the Log Cabin we had delivered this week. The quality is brilliant and the finer details fantastic. Customer service was excellent. Would highly recommend your company.
By - Diane Stevens on Sep 03,15

Went to buy a cheaper summer house but bought the Premium Plus 7 log cabin instead. Best decision I ever made. The quality is first class and my joiner said 'It's the best bit of kit he's ever seen' and as for the price it couldn't be beaten and believe me I searched Scotland for over a year before I bought from Dunster House. We traveled to Scunthorpe from Scotland before I bought my log cabin and it was well worth the visit, the staff were friendly and very helpful. Time you moved north to Scotland Dunster House and give the folk up here a chance to buy your good quality buildings without being ripped off

Dear Krystyna. Thank you so much for your review. We are very glad that you’re happy with the quality of our products. Unfortunately we don't have a branch near Scotland and consequently the delivery fee is more expensive. But our company is expanding rapidly and we hope that in the future we will be able to provide you with a better service.

I have to say that i am very happy with my new Premium Plus Severn Log Cabin. My dealings from start to finish with Dunster House was excellent. Every thing that they said would happen did happen . From ordering which was easy and the member of staff Marcus was so helpful. The Cabin was delivered exactly on the day stated and the driver was excellent and placed it onto our driveway just where we required it. The cabin was easy to build and took no time at all to complete. The electrics are now completed and i am just waiting on my new office furniture to arrive and we will be up and running. All in all so far it has been an excellent purchase and i would certainly recommend this company and product to anyone looking for a good Log Cabin. Well done Dunster House i would certainly use you again in the future.
