Looking for an attractive alternative to a concrete Garage? Then why not check out the Trent Lo-Roof Garage from Dunster House. This stunning timber Garage is made using slow grown Spruce and is fitted with a window on the side, as well as a side door for ease of access. At under 2.5m tall, it's unlikely you'll need Planning Permission. You can purchase matching spruce main doors as an optional extra below, turning it into an enclosed building.

Product Features
Garages 10 Years Timber Guarantee
Garages 10 Years Timber Guarantee II
10 year guarantee
The floor bearers that offer support to this garage are pressure treated and therefore are guaranteed against rot and insect infestation for 10 years. Protecting your timber thoroughly, you won't need to re-treat the timber for at least ten years or worry about little critters causing havoc.
Garages Slow Grown Spruce
Garages Slow Grown Spruce II
Slow grown spruce
We use slow grown spruce for the walls of all our Garages as it is better all round than pine! Spruce is less porous than Pine and so less likely to shrink, warp or split. We only select slowly grown timber from colder climates which also helps keep the timber more stable as the rings are densely packed. It is also a less resinous timber than Pine, which makes the possibility of sap ruining your clothes or furnishings much less likely.. Although Spruce costs about 3-4% more than Pine we understand these advantages and are keen for our customers to benefit from them and are sure that this increased cost is covered by the recommendations our customers give when they see the quality of our timber compared to others!
Garages 4MM Toughened Glass
Garages 4MM Toughened Glass Styrene
4mm toughened glass
We use 4mm toughened glass in our windows and doors for increased safety and security. It's much better than 3mm horticultural glass, commonly found in garden buildings, as it's a lot harder to break, and if ever it is broken it breaks into small pieces rather than large shards. It is also much harder to scratch than the plastic alternatives, styrene, acrylic and perspex, so will preserve your clear view out for far longer.
Garages Avoid Sagging Roof
Garages Avoid Sagging Roof II
Avoid sagging roofs
Our heavy duty 140mm or 210mm high by 45mm wide supporting roof beams prevent unsightly sagging.
Garages Adjustable Storm Braces
Garages Adjustable Storm Braces II
Adjustable Storm Braces
Our adjustable storm braces tie the garage roof to the rest of the building so it withstands stronger winds. Unlike others on the market they are adjustable to allow for the natural movement of the garage which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move.
Garages 3 Gate Hinges
Garages 3 Gate Hinges Single Hinge
Strap Hinges
When purchasing barn doors with your garage, we supply you with six robust strap hinges to hang them with. These strap hinges are not only screwed in to place but bolted through both the door and the framework, making it harder for intruders to remove the barn doors and enter the garage.
Garages Plastic Vents
Garages Plastic Vents II
Plastic Vents
We have included ventilation as part of our garage kit to help prevent condensation build up within the building. We use two pairs of plastic base plates, one round and one square. The external round vents have chamfers to help direct water away from the hole, the inner square vents have an integral fly screen to prevent insects from entering through the vent. The pair of vents allows a flow of air through your garage to help keep out musty smells.
Garages No Glued Together Offcuts
Garages No Glued Together Offcuts II
No Glued together Offcuts
We only use full lengths of timber in our garden buildings - we don't glue separate offcut pieces together with finger joints. Not only are they stronger, but they look much better too.
 4-Point Locking System
Our exceptional doors feature an industry leading four point locking system. It features a hook, locking latch and two roller locks. We use a type of lock that has 6 pins and has been tested to BSEN 1303:2005 classification to ensure it is a safer, more secure locking system. Our windows have multipoint locking as well, using the same type of system as we supply with our uPVC windows and doors.

To ensure the very best quality, we only use slow-grown White Spruce Timber, which is harvested in cold climates to ensure solid, dense log rings. This gives the wood superior strength and longevity, and also a much more consistent colour than the likes of Pine.

Despite the care we take in selecting the very best Timber available, it’s not like predictable brick or cold steel, this natural material has characteristics and quirks unique to every log.

Because our timber logs once fed water and nutrients back and forth from its roots to its leaves, its very nature is to be porous and swell up when it gets wet. Any wooden product will do this throughout its life, but there are a few things you can do to help limit this movement.

These include:

1. A great design!

  • Don’t worry, we’ve got this one covered. We’re experts when it comes to all things timber, so we have designed our products from the ground up with its natural properties in mind.

2. Water Repellent Treatment.

  • How you customise and decorate your product is up to you, however we would recommend that you use an appropriate water repellent treatment. This really helps minimise the amount of moisture that the timber can absorb. Therefore minimising the risk of any major movement.
  • (Please note: water repellent treatment is not the same as pressure treatment, which protects against rot and insect infestation, and which we guarantee for 10 Years!)

3. Ventilation.

  • Keeping your timber building ventilated is no less important than keeping your house well ventilated. This is especially true if you plan to cover up your floorboards with something (double check with an expert, that the material is suitable to do so), as moisture can become trapped between layers of non-breathable materials and build-up, leading to floors becoming rotten.

4. Regular Seasonal Maintenance.

  • Whether you opt to build your product yourself, or have us do it for you, don’t be afraid to tighten the odd bolt here and there. Your product is a life improving investment, so it’s only right to give it some love and care from time to time. Make sure that it’s properly treated before the rainy months, and you make adjustments to doors and window frames, when needed.

Natural Timber Properties

After building your timber product, this natural construction will begin to ‘settle’. This means that you will likely see some natural timber imperfections appear. These types of natural imperfections can include:

  • Cracks

  • Splits

  • Shakes

  • Warping / Twisting

  • Expansion and Contraction

Please be aware that, as these are natural timber properties they are not considered as defects under our Terms & Conditions (for more information, check out our Ts&Cs here). However, in most cases, these imperfections will not impact the integrity or function of your timber product, and/or can easily be rectified. For advice on how to rectify these and for more support, please get in touch with our Customer Services Team on
