    Slow-Grown spruce
We use slow grown spruce for the walls of all our log cabins as it is better all round than pine! Spruce is less porous than Pine and so less likely to shrink, warp or split. We only select slowly grown timber from colder climates which also helps keep the timber more stable as the rings are densely packed. It is also a less resinous timber than Pine, which makes the possibility of sap ruining your clothes or furnishings much less likely.
    adjustable hinges for log cabins
door hinge for garden room for sale
Our PremiumPlus doors feature easily adjustable hinges allowing you to make minor changes if ever required. The windows on this range have the same friction stays as we supply on our uPVC windows, meaning that you can open the window and leave it open with just the hinges taking the load, with no need for a stay arm. These sets of hinges are stylish and supremely user friendly.
Our adjustable storm braces tie the log cabin roof to the rest of the building so it withstands stronger winds. Unlike other cabins on the market they are adjustable to allow for the natural movement of the cabin which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move.
    plastic vents for garden outbuilding
plastic vents for timber log cabins for sale
    plastic vents
We believe we are the only Log Cabin company to fit ventilation to their log cabins as part of the kit. We've done this to help prevent condensation build up within the building. We use two pairs of plastic base plates, one round and one square. The external round vents have chamfers to help direct water away from the hole, the inner square vents have an integral fly screen to prevent insects from entering through the vent. The pair of vents allows a flow of air through your log cabin to help keep out musty smells.
With our extra tall doors, unless you are over 1.86m (6'1") tall you can walk right the way through without any danger of bumping your head.
This building is under 2.5m high. Why does this matter? Under permitted development rights, buildings under 2.5m high can be placed as close as you want to a boundary (eg. a fence line) without planning permission. Buildings that are over 2.5m high need to be placed over 2m away from any boundary (eg. a fence line), which could lead to a lot of wasted space. If you want to find out more about permitted development rights see our planning guide

Pressure Treated Severn Log Cabin W5.0m x D3.0m

The image above shows a brief reference to how your products will arrive. All of our garden buildings are made from kiln dried quality graded timber, if it is to be stored prior to construction and treatment all parts must be covered to prevent moisture from warping and rotting the timber.

Average Seller Rating:

The Summerhouse is great, very good quality, very solid and will last a very long time. The assembly of the unit is generally very intuitive with the walls, roof and floor going up in one day. One point which I feel could be improved are the instructions. As stated the build is generally simple however the instructions cover multiple versions and do not necessarily flow easily, plus there are one or two spare planks which are not obvious which caused some scratching of heads. In the scheme of things a relatively minor issue very quickly forgotten once the finished article is complete. In summary very pleased and would certainly recommend Dunster House to others.

Really pleased with our fantastic log cabin. Bit disappointed that for the price we had to then finish sealing the windows though! The guys from Dunster erected the building, and I would recommend this as it is extremely complicated! Loving the outdoor living space it has given us in our new house.

Dear Gill. Thank you for your review. We are really glad that you are happy with our product and the service provided. We do everything in our power to maintain the quality of our products and their competitive prices. Also our log cabins need to be build by confident DIYers, and it usually takes two days for assembly based on two people and depending on season/weather conditions, foundation type, ability of those constructing, etc.

We went for the self install option, as my friend is a joiner, however, this was not a necessity as the cabin itself was a doddle to install. The interlocking logs were a dream to work with, and a credit to the design of the products. I have since made the cabin into a bar, and successfully held an opening party last weekend where it comfortably had 20 people in. The quality of the product is superb, and a few of my friends have now had ideas put into their head. All that's left is to test if the treated wood stands up to the ten year guarantee, which i'll report back in about 9 years 11 months...
