RABBITS AND FIREWORKS
Rabbits are easily scared and distressed by loud noises, such as the whizzing and banging of fireworks. Here are some tips on how to keep your rabbits happy during Bonfire Night, or other occasions when there may be lots of fireworks in the area.
- Provide rabbits with extra bedding or a cardboard box full of hay so they have extra hiding places to burrow away in.
- Bring your rabbit indoors to a quiet room, or place their hutch in a garage/shed. Close any windows and draw the curtains to keep out light and noise. If you can’t move rabbits inside, try changing the position of their housing or covering it over with a thick blanket or duvet to stifle sound and block out flashing lights. If covering their hutch, be sure to check they still have enough ventilation.
- Ensure you keep rabbits together with their companion, to limit their stress.
