Glazing Options on our Garden Buildings

At Dunster house we sell a wide variety of wooden garden buildings, including sheds, log cabins, summerhouses and garden offices. Read on to find out more information on the different glazing options we offer with each.

Sheds

Glazing Options - Dunster House Shed Windows

Our garden shed windows are all glazed with 4mm thick toughened glass.

To ensure our products are of the highest quality, we use real glass in all our windows, not plastic. Glass does not scratch as easily or cloud up over time like plastic alternatives such as styrene, acrylic and Perspex.

Glazing Options - We DON'T use Plastic in our Shed Windows

The glass we use is 4mm toughened glass, which is thicker and much more durable than the 3mm horticultural glass usually found on garden buildings. Toughened glass is much safer, not only because it is harder to break, but because of the way it shatters. If a window does happen to get broken the glass will crumble rather than break into dangerous sharp shards.

The contents of your shed will be kept safe by the strong toughened glass. The windows are also internally beaded, which helps prevent the glass being removed from the outside.

Log Cabins

Glazing Options - Dunster House Log Cabin Windows and Doors

Our log cabin windows and doors feature 4mm toughened glass, as it is safer and much better quality than plastic. Unlike most other log cabin companies, we don’t use any styrene, Perspex or weak 3mm ‘shed spec’ horticultural glass.

The toughened glass increases security and resilience, as it is much more difficult to scratch, bend or break. The tempering process it goes through makes it far stronger than other materials. If it does break, it shatters into small pieces rather than sharp shards. This makes it easier to clear up, and safer if there are children running around playing in the garden.

Log cabins with 28mm walls are single glazed. 45mm and 62mm insulated WarmaLog Cabins come with double glazing as standard.

The 24mm double glazed sealed units are made up of two 4mm panes of toughened glass, with a 16mm aluminium spacer bar between. This is designed to help reduce excess moisture to prevent condensation between the pieces of glass. The sealed units are tested to fully comply with BS EN 1279. This standard includes covering the requirements for thermal and sound insulation, and ensures windows are free from condensation.

Our log cabins are designed to give your garden building security. The windows and doors have multi-point locking systems and key locking handles. They also have internal beading to keep the glass in place, which helps prevent it being removed from the outside.

Another unique feature is the stainless steel friction stays that hold the window in place when it is open. This is the type of mechanism typically found on domestic uPVC windows. Most log cabin suppliers only use a multi-purpose stay arm opener for keeping the window open, and for locking it.

Garden Offices

Glazing Options - Dunster House Garden Office uPVC Windows and Doors

Our specially designed garden offices come with uPVC double glazed windows and doors, made to the same standard as you would find in a house. They are manufactured in our own factory in the UK. We have been making uPVC windows and doors for over 25 years, so you can be sure of a great quality product. These large patio doors, French doors and side windows will let in plenty of natural light for the ideal working environment.

The 28mm double glazed units are composed of 2 panes of 4mm toughened glass on either side of a 20mm aluminium spacer bar. This spacer allows for absorption of moisture to prevent condensation inside the window. These sealed units comply with BS EN 1279 standards, which covers the requirements for insulating glass units, including thermal and sound insulation. They are also independently tested to make sure there is no condensation between the panes of glass.

For the utmost security to keep your valuable equipment safe, our uPVC windows and doors are fitted with multi-point locking systems, with the doors featuring a 6-pin euro cylinder.

Both the doors and windows also feature trickle vents to enable you to keep your office building well ventilated and avoid build up of moisture.
