Our WarmaLog insulated garden cabins are an innovative concept with a 62mm sandwich of timber and polyisocyanurate. Their U-Value is equivalent to 110mm wall thickness. An ideal option for any weather. Keep yourself and loved ones warm and cosy with triple tongue and groove logs and double glazed windows as standard.

Our insulation options are quick and easy to install into your log cabin and help promote heat retention, saving you money on your heating bills. We always supply Polyisocyanurate insulation because it is a far better insulator than Rockwool or polystyrene, and gives great thermal efficiency.

Maintain Your Garden Building

Ensure your garden building lasts the ages, by taking the correct measures to maintain it properly.

Our experts recommend choosing the right treatment for your log cabin and that you treat it as soon as it’s built. At Dunster House, we offer a variety of wall preservatives that are solvent and water-based. In addition to selecting the best log cabin treatment, it’s also important that you re-apply treatment when required. This will depend on the cabin preservative you have chosen.

Furthermore, creating an environment that aids moisture control is an important element in maintaining your garden building. Make sure measures are in place for the roof, floor, foundations and surrounding drainage to help shake off the extra moisture and prevent rot, fungal decay and insect infestations.

At Dunster House, we use pressure treated floor bearers to protect the lowest part of the building. We use a large pressure treatment tank that forces the treatment deep into the timber at high pressure. Due to this effective process, we offer our customers a genuine 10-year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on the bearers.

Don’t forget, your garden building is made of timber, a natural product that will contract and expand according to the UK’s unpredictable weather. Once the cabin is erected, there will be a period of “settling” as the wood reacts and adjusts to the surrounding climate. Splits and cracks may occur over time, but that shouldn’t compromise the quality of your garden building.

We use interlocking tongue and groove timber in our garden rooms to help with the strength and stability of the walls, as well as the natural expansion and contraction of the timber.

Garden Building Wall Thickness

Our log cabins are available in a range of wall thicknesses; 45mm and 62mm Insulated (which is equivalent to 140mm U-Value).

U-Values, provide a measure of heat loss found within building materials used for walls, floors and the roof. If you intend to use your cabin all year round, rather than just seasonally, you should choose as thick a wall as possible, to maximise the insulation.

To allow you to compare options, we quote the U-Values of the walls below.

Our 45mm walls contain over 60% more wood than a 28mm wall and are ideal for use all year round. (U-Value 1.93 w/m2 k)

Our 62mm walls are a triple tongue and groove sandwich of timber and polyisocyanurate insulation. This achieves a U-Value equivalent to 140mm walls. (U-Value 0.59w/m2 K)

Wooden Garden Building Planning Permission

You may have found what you’re looking for, a log cabin to your exact taste and measurements. That’s great! However, before placing an order for your wooden garden building, it’s essential to familiarise yourself with any planning permission or building regulations that may apply.

The good news is that most of our log cabins and garden offices don’t require planning permission. This is due to the unique designs that utilise the maximum width and height available to us, giving you as much space as possible, without the need to opt for tall log cabins. Although we have a wide range of under 2.5m log cabins, some exceptions may still apply. It’s vital that you check whether you’ll need planning permission or not.
