DIY SOS: The Big Build Donation
DIY SOS: The Big Build, heads to Kettering to help Lindsey and her family complete their uninhabitable home.
Midwife Lindsey and ex-Royal Engineer Shaun tied the knot in December 2019. They began the next chapter with two children of their own and two daughters from Lindsey’s previous marriage. Unfortunately, Shaun fell very ill in the summer leading to an operation on his kidneys and bowel. Later on, in the same month of the operation, he was diagnosed with cancer and tragically passed away in November 2021.
Building a Family Home
As expected, the family are extremely destroyed and, are finding things difficult with the loss of Shaun. Things are particularly difficult due to an incomplete home to live in. The couple had previously set a goal to create a welcoming, family home that they could all live in. Shaun had some help from a local builder but then wanted to complete the rest of the build himself. Now, with an unliveable home and a distraught family, Nick and his team have come to the rescue!
DIY SOS and their team of volunteer trades have an almighty challenge, to transform the uninhabitable family home into something extraordinary. The transformation is to help allow Lindsey and her children to all live under one roof. With a warm, cosy and welcoming family home they can all finally reunite, grieve and work on the next chapter of their life together.
Life-Changing Transformation
Dunster House donated the Rhine Log Cabin to a deserving family from Kettering. Featured on the BBC One series ‘DIY SOS: The Big Build’.
The donation of the Rhine Log Cabin was a part of a life-changing transformation to the families home. Most importantly, the donation will be a surprise for the two girls. Both girls have been extremely strong and brave for their mum and, two brothers during this devastating time.
