DIY Monkey Bars

All of our wooden climbing frames come as a DIY kit and are designed with the DIYer in mind. We provide all fixtures and fittings along with easy to follow pictorial instructions. Plus all bolt holes are pre-drilled to make building your monkey bars as simple as possible.

We do not offer an installation service, but you might have some little helpers who want to help create the beginning of their new outdoor adventures. You can check out our Help Centre for more information about building and maintaining your outdoor play equipment.

Are Children’s Monkey Bars Good Exercise?

Yes, Monkey bars can offer various physical and developmental benefits for children and provide a good exercise opportunity for kids.

Physically they can help improve your children’s upper body strength, core strength, stability, and grip strength. Supporting their own body weight strengthens muscles in the arms, shoulders, and upper back. As they swing from bar to bar they use their core muscles to maintain stability and balance, as well as improve their grip strength.

Moving from one bar to another also involves coordination and the use of different motor skills. It challenges children to plan their movements, improve spatial awareness, and develop their hand eye coordination.

Not only does it help physical development but monkey bars can help build up your children’s confidence and perseverance. Successfully traversing the monkey bars can boost a child’s confidence and self-esteem. It encourages them to set goals, overcome challenges, and build resilience by practicing and persevering.

Are Monkey Bars Dangerous?

Here at Dunster House, your children’s safety is our number one priority. We use the best quality timber and adhere to the highest manufacturing standards. All our climbing frames are rigorously and independently tested to EN71 safety standards. Unlike with other competitors, you can rest assured your children are safe whilst swinging from bar to bar.

We also supply ground anchors with our play equipment at no additional cost. The ground anchors will secure your monkey bars safely in place while your children play. They are made from galvanised metal, featuring feature large discs that bury into the ground. These will hold your climbing frame secure, unlike the small plastic pegs that some other companies use.
