  • Avoid planning permission
This building is under 2.5m high.
Why does this matter? Well, under permitted development rights buildings under 2.5m high can be placed as close as you want to a boundary (eg. a fence line) without planning permission. Buildings that are over 2.5m high, however, need to be placed over 2m away from any boundary (eg. a fence line), which means that with taller buildings you end up with a lot of space behind them. If you want to find out more about permitted development rights see our planning guide
  • Adjustable storm braces
Our adjustable storm braces tie the log cabin roof to the rest of the building so it withstands stronger winds. Unlike other cabins on the market they are adjustable to allow for the natural movement of the cabin which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move.
  • Slow Grown Spruce
We use slow grown spruce for the walls of all our log cabins as it is better all round than pine! Spruce is less porous than Pine and so less likely to shrink, warp or split. We only select slowly grown timber from colder climates which also helps keep the timber more stable as the rings are densely packed. It is also a less resinous timber than Pine, which makes the possibility of sap ruining your clothes or furnishings much less likely.
  • 4mm toughened glass
We use 4mm toughened glass in our windows and doors for increased safety and security. It's much better than 3mm horticultural glass, commonly found in garden buildings, as it's a lot harder to break, and if ever it is broken it breaks into small pieces rather than large shards. It is also much harder to scratch than the plastic alternatives, styrene, acrylic and perspex, so will preserve your clear view out for far longer.
  •

    Pressure treated bearers

By pressure treating our floor bearers we protect the lowest part of the building from rot and insect infestation. This forces the treatment deep into the timber using a large pressure treatment tank. Due to this costly but effective process we can offer our customers a genuine 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on the bearers with no need for the customer to re-treat this timber at any point during that time.
  •

    10 year timber guarantee?

Other companies claim that they offer a 10 year Guarantee on their untreated timber. If you read the small print, you'll find that these Guarantees are pointless. They cover the cabin against rot and insect infestation only if you, the customer, treat the cabin every year with a good quality preservative. Why are these Companies offering a Guarantee for something that you are going to have to do yourself? How could you prove you had treated it if you tried to make a claim? We don't offer pointless Guarantees. We guarantee that our pressure treated timber and our galvanised metal will last for 10 years without yearly labour from you.
  • Customise your design
Our Log Cabins have been designed to fit any garden and accommodate any personal preferences. Where our pictures show the doors on either the left or the right hand side of the front elevation if you want the doors on the other side of the front elevation simply reverse the position of the front wall logs when you build it. You can choose between a traditional or modern style, depending on the type of roof you prefer, and with or without Georgian Bars, to suit your taste.
  • Tall walkthrough height
With our extra tall doors, unless you are over 1.86m (6'1") tall you can walk right the way through without any danger of bumping your head.
  • Avoid sagging roofs
Our heavy duty 140mm or 210mm high by 45mm wide supporting roof beams prevent unsightly sagging.
  •

    4 Point Door locking system

Our PremiumPlus doors feature our industry leading four point locking system. It features a hook, locking latch and two roller locks. We use a type of lock that has 6 pins and has been tested to BSEN 1303:2005 classification to ensure it is a safer, more secure locking system. Our Premiumplus windows have multipoint locking as well, using the same type of system as we supply with our uPVC windows and doors.
  • Optional 24mm Double Glazing
The double glazing option on PremiumPlus Log Cabins is an industry leading 24mm thick. We make these sealed units ourselves to European Standard EN1279. Made up of 4mm toughened glass, 16mm spacer and another piece of 4mm toughened glass. It's an excellent way of insulating your cabin and extending its usage from a seasonal building to one that can be used throughout the year.
  • Adjustable Hinges/Friction Stays
Our PremiumPlus doors feature easily adjustable hinges allowing you to make minor changes if ever required. The windows on this range have the same friction stays as we supply on our uPVC windows, meaning that you can open the window and leave it open with just the hinges taking the load, with no need for a stay arm. These sets of hinges are stylish and supremely user friendly.

PremiumPlus Lantera Log Cabin W4.5m x D2.5m

The image above shows a brief reference to how your products will arrive. All of our garden buildings are made from kiln dried quality graded timber, if it is to be stored prior to construction and treatment all parts must be covered to prevent moisture from warping and rotting the timber.

Average Seller Rating:

A superb cabin. Bought as an artists studio and it fits the bill perfectly, a great size, very light and warm, even in the north east of Scotland, with all the insullation options fitted. The kits was very easy to put together with just two people and ordering and delivery was a doddle. I'd be happy to recommend a Dunster House cabin to anyone.

Great purchase it was very straight forward to put together. Love it.And it did just take one day for the main assembly

Cabin is great - high quality and now it's finished it looks superb. The process of getting there was somewhat of a challenge and the building of it was made more difficult by the instructions not being appropriate for a complete novice (like me). It was a week between getting the wood and putting it up (with it taking a few days to get the foundations right) and despite the base being as it should be some of the beams had twisted and were a struggle to lock in. The video on you tube on how to build it was invaluable and an even longer version of this for beginners would be handier. I'd certainly recommend it to others.

Hi Neil. Thank you for your review and your suggestions. We will take them into consideration but we do alert all of our customers that they need to have enough experience in DIY to build one of our garden buildings.

I love my log cabin it's much better than the one I had before because of the thicker logs and the double glazing, I use mine as a gym.

Very pleased with my new garden office and even more happy to know that I actually built it and painted it. Up until now I'd only ever done IKEA builds, and this was a big step up but one that I managed, thanks to planning, having the right tools and a getting a buddy to help me. A local firm prepared the concrete base for me, and my delivery was a two-person delivery to the site, which came a week before I started the build. I bought a big tarp to cover the wood while it was raining and spent a full afternoon going through all the timber and parts, checking them, getting them in order and getting familiar with how the build will go. I bought the key tools - clamps, mallets, spirit level, hammers, a driver/drill, saw, tape measure and a ladder and started work on a friday afternoon. The walls and apex were up in 3 hours, very easy apart from a few slightly bent pieces that needs clamps to push them into place. Next was the roof... which took a lot longer (a whole day for 2 people) as mine was 4 layers... the ceiling slats, insulation boards, membrane and then lots of felt tiles and glue. So much hammering! The floor was also a lot of hammering but was a lot easier, even with insulation. Finally after 2 and a half days, it was built and water-tight with windows and doors in place. The following weekend it required another 2 and a half days to paint it with 3 coats using a sprayer system. I wish I'd got someone else to do that. For value for money this can't be beat, but the instructions for construction are pretty ambiguous and we were left scratching our heads a few times, even though we're pretty smart people. Customer Services were good to email back when I had questions on the construction, but having to wait a day for a response can be frustrating if it halts all progress. I hope Dunster House put some effort in to improve their instruction pack. I'd have paid £50 more for better instructions. Fortunately the youtube videos of construction were quite good.

Thank you so much for the excellent service from buying our lovely log cabin to the delivery man who was so helpful, and as for the three men who erected the cabin, we cannot praise them enough, they were thoughtful, curtious and very helpful! Even though my husband said they ate his sausage sandwich! Thanks again, we would certainly recommend the company and lovely service with the staff.
