The slow-grown spruce timber used for this climbing frame is pressure treated. This is an intensive treatment process that gives far higher quality and longer-lasting results than dip-treatment. Unlike others on the market, even the framework is pressure treated to ensure it lasts. All of our pressure treated timber carries a Genuine 10 Year Guarantee against fungal decay and insect infestation. We recommend that you treat external timber with a good quality water repellent.
The safety of your children is of the utmost importance to us, therefore our climbing frames and play systems are put through rigorous independent tests to ensure that they are as safe as possible. We thoroughly check each and every feature to ensure that the climbing frame will not buckle, there is no chance of any little heads or feet becoming trapped and that there’s no snags to rip clothes or catch their skin. Add this to our strong long lasting synthetic ropes, clamp style hooks and rounded safety caps all coming as standard on our play systems and climbing frames.
Our climbing frames are independently tested to comply with EN71 / Toy European Safety Standards. They are also UKCA rated. This testing includes hanging weights culminating in 200kg, 10x the average weight of a six year old, to the swing hooks where they are left for hours. They also add 100kg weights to the platforms to ensure they are strong and sturdy. To make sure your kids don’t catch their clothes or trap their feet when playing, they use gauges and toggles to assess all gaps. We’ve also tested our treated timber to ensure that the chemicals are safe to use on children’s products. Safety really is our top priority. Why would you look anywhere else?
All applicable Dunster House climbing frames come supplied with extremely weather-resistant metal brackets. These ensure a secure connection between the cross beam and the supporting vertical beams of the swing. The metal brackets make installation simpler as you do not have to worry about alignment. After the fastening with the help of the prefabricated drill holes and appropriate screws, you are good to go. In no time, your children will be enjoying their brand-new climbing frame.
Your children’s safety is our number one priority, so unlike many manufacturers, we supply our ground anchors completely free of charge.
We know that your children will run, jump and climb enthusiastically over the climbing frame which is why you need to ensure your climbing frame is secure. We supply you with sturdy metal ground anchors.
To ensure that the Climbing Frame is safely secured we suggest concreting the ground anchors.
Safety is our number one priority. So much so, unlike some bespoke climbing frame installs, our climbing frames are independently tested to comply with the European safety standard EN71 / Toy Safety Regulations and are rated.
Not only that, we include additional bracing on many of our towers that you would not otherwise see on competitor products. This is because we want to be certain that the climbing frames that we provide are as safe as they can be.
It is also why we offer our ground anchors free of charge, whereas many competitors charge! Why compromise on children’s safety?
All our climbing frames come with pre-drilled bolt holes as standard. These are precisely drilled holes to ensure all your bolts will fit in safely and securely. Please note that we do not pre-drill screw holes in the climbing frame, this will be required during the assembly.
All the nuts and bolts used in this play system are safely covered up with our plastic caps (supplied as standard). This gives added protection to your child against knocks, bumps and prevents their clothes from catching.
Many of our competitors attach their swings to their climbing frames via a simple bolt that has been drilled through the middle of the timber. Over time, as your children swing back and forth, the constant strain and movement will cause the timber to weaken. Our clamp style swing hooks wrap around the timber, keeping the timber in one piece, giving additional reinforcement. This method of attachment not only adds strength and safety but also makes swapping accessories simple.
We don’t use metal chains on our swings as these can become rusty over time, especially when exposed to constant rain. Chains can also easily trap your child’s hair or fingers while they are playing. We use 10mm thick twisted rope made from a synthetic long-lasting material, which has smooth welded plastic joints so are built to last. These are easily adjustable so, as your children grow, they won’t become too big for the climbing frame accessories.
We want your children to be comfortable whilst they are playing. Our swing seats are made with thick plastic that is moulded for both durability and comfort rather than the flimsy plastic wrap around seats some companies offer.
Get your climbing frame assembled quickly and easily with our preconstructed roof and platforms. You will have your playset up and ready for action in no time, minimising setup stress and ensuring structural integrity and safety from the start. This means more playtime for the kids and less hassle for you!
These features provide a secure and shaded space for kids to rest, play, and let their imaginations run wild. The elevated platforms enhance the playset’s versatility, serving as lookout points, secret forts, or command centers for their adventures. Additionally, the roof offers protection from the elements, allowing for year-round play.
Many of our competitors offer slides that are not only made from thin plastic but many of them need to be built, usually arriving in three separate pieces. Our wavy slides are made from a mix of 4mm and 5mm thick plastic to create a strong rigid slide, which arrives to you in one solid piece. This eliminates the fear of a weak joint causing the slide to break while your child plays on it.
Our solid slides also feature deep sides which help to prevent your little ones sliding off of the edge.
Our climbing stones make scaling our climbing wall easy. The climbing stones are made from professional grade materials rather than cheap plastic as this can crack, become sharp and your children can catch their skin on them. By using the same materials like those used on professional climbing walls, you can be confident that your children will be safe while they play.
Unlike our competitors, we only use high-quality spruce timber on our wooden products rather than cheap pine or mixed timber. Why do we use slow grown spruce rather than the much cheaper knotty pine alternatives?
Spruce is considered more stable as it expands and contracts less than pine. This stability means that the spruce timbers in our garden buildings minimise splits from appearing as the timber changes along with the weather. We responsibly source all our timber, where it grows slowly in the cold northern regions. We all know the old adage of counting the rings to see how old a tree is, well our timber grows slower and takes longer to get to size meaning it has more rings in it. This means it has a tighter grain, and each ring helps prevent cracks and shakes from appearing in the densely packed timber.
Our wooden garden buildings and climbing frames really are built to last therefore we use only the highest quality, slow-grown spruce. Spruce is much more resilient to warps and splits compared to its cheaper alternative pine. Being a whitewood, it doesn’t discolour anywhere near as much as pine so it is also much more aesthetically pleasing for a garden structure. Considered more stable, less knotty and resinous than pine, spruce will also produce a lot less sap. It is also less dense meaning it is not as susceptible to mould and rot.
We include a pair of handgrips, a steering wheel and a telescope with this climbing frame to let their imagination run wild! Become a champion racing car driver with the fully movable steering wheel, search for the Lost Island of Awesome Treasure as a pirate with the telescope, or why not conquer Mount Olympus by climbing up with the extra handgrips?
All of the timber in this garden building has been responsibly sourced and pressure-treated to ensure it lasts. Pressure treatment forces the wood preservative into the timber rather than simply dip treating (essentially just covering the exterior) like many companies still do.
Unlike some competition, we can offer a genuine 10-year guarantee against wood-eating fungal and insect infestation on pressure-treated timber.
All our Pressure Treated timber is for Use Class 3.
We don’t offer cheap flimsy accessories, unlike some competitors. Our climbing frame accessories are all designed for strength and manufactured to a high quality standard.
There is nothing more annoying than being in the middle of building something and finding that you don’t have the right fixings to continue. We include all of the screws, nails and fixings that you will need to put your garden building together – not many of our competitors are that thoughtful. This eliminates the need to worry about the type of screws or the length of nails you might need to get started – it’ll all be with your delivery.
