Dunster House has expanded and developed over the many years of our business, to grow into the multinational company that we are today. We believe that we have a social responsibility to our community and the wider world. Luckily, we happen to be in a good position where we are able to make a global impact with our humanitarian services.
We have a focus on supporting those less fortunate. Whilst, we strive to do our bit to help the environment and others. One of the ways we do this is by regularly donating our climbing frames, log cabins, gazebos and other products to charities, educational establishments, local governments and care homes etc.
The timber used to make our products comes from a sustainable source. We also undertake eco-friendly practices throughout various stages of our business processes. Our deliveries are all carefully scheduled to ensure we plan the most economical routes in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint.
We have a department and team of people dedicated solely to our humanitarian efforts and eco projects. They are continually working to help provide to those in need, and researching the ways in which we can give aid in crisis situations.
Sanitation
There are still so many deaths across the globe attributed to a lack of access to clean water, proper sanitation and hygiene facilities. We use our expertise to find and create solutions to these pressing issues and offer humanitarian aid.
Our wealth of knowledge and resources has led to us becoming a leading manufacturer and supplier of sanitation equipment. We have worked with many charities and NGOs to aid them in their relief operations. We are proud to have been official supplier to international charities such as Oxfam. Our latrines, squatting plates and hand washing kits provide disaster relief to help countries all over the world.
Our Composting Eco Toilets have been designed to offer a sanitation solution to areas where there is a lack of access to clean water or no connection to a sewerage system. A composting toilet is ideal for use in remote areas as it uses a waterless system. The eco-friendly design helps to save water, energy, money and resources, whilst providing sanitation facilities to those who need it.
Pee Power
The processes of a composting toilet also help to prevent pollution. Our composting toilets feature a urine diversion system which separates out liquid from the solid waste. Stored in the right way for long enough, and following the correct procedures, this waste can then be reused as fertiliser or compost.
For a few years we have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work together with the University of West England on the Pee Power project at Glastonbury Festival. This initiative, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, sees electrical power being generated by urine from our emergency pissoir.
Shelter
Homelessness is unfortunately an ever prevalent issue faced by so many, for all sorts of reasons. We have supported people and governments in the UK to try to help combat the situation. Dunster House have done this by donating our garden buildings to be used as shelters for the homeless. We have also designed sleeping pods specifically for this purpose.
Our aim is to promote human welfare by designing and providing a wide range of products. These designs endeavour to benefit both urban and rural communities around the world. All businesses and people can do their bit to save the planet and make this world a better and safer place for everyone. Together, we can all make a difference.
