Very pleasant experience buying my gazebo from Dunster House. Delivery went exactly as promised. Quality is very good and construction was straightforward. I did have a question during building it and needed a quick answer but unfortunately no one technical could talk to me so I had to work it out which fortunately went ok

Good company and product.

I would have liked to give 4.5 stars but this isn't possible. Reasons for not giving 5 stars listed further below. The website is pretty good with lots of info. Although I did find a competitors site had some better info and videos about cabins/ assembly and wood in general. I'd made a couple of calls before ordering and found that experience helpful. The phone order was easy. Deposit and payments smoothly dealt with and reminders for final payment helpful. I called to make final payment as I hadn't the time to log into site. Delivery info was good and delivery was more than acceptable. Both guys were helpful and informative and explained the process. They also kindly left the bearers to one side so my teenage son wouldn't loose them in a pile of wood when he moved it into the garden as they would be the first items needed. Assembly went well and I had 2 local guys put the cabin up for me. No issues with parts or assembly (other than the minor points listed further below) All parts in good order, with an odd spare plank just in case. The reasons this product and experience didn't quite make the 5 stars are as follows 1 / I can't recall if I was offered wood preservative when I made the order. I bought primer and paint from Dunster and was annoyed to discover I needed preservative first and that this could have been used as the primer . I then had to call and order preserver from protek. This company is amazing. I have had positive experience with Protek and they deserve 5 stars. They are a good partner for you to have. Please check if this could be clearer on your site. As far as I can tell only the preservative is effective against wood boring insects. This is not listed on your site. Either that or I missed it. 2 / I ordered the Rhine cabin and knew that the doors and windows could go either way around. This is true but ( it might be that you specify the following somewhere that I've missed ) if you have the doors on the left the handle has to go on the right side door and the handle smacks into the window. I've put a rubber stay in so this hits first. Also because of this neither door now opens fully as the left side one hits the roof bearers and the right has a stay on to stop the handle hitting. In hindsight I would have put the doors on the right. This would mean the left could be fully opened and the handle would not have been an issue. 3/ the bolts on the inside second door are awful. The guys had them fitted before I noticed. They are tiny and difficult to lock. They only lock into drilled door surround (did my fitters miss something for them to lock into?) I have bought 2 black handles to add so I can pull them closed. I also have bigger bolts to fit at some point when I finish painting. 4/ painting! I now know why my installers didn't want to paint. I feel like I've been painting for weeks. Admittedly having to fit painting in between work and rain showers. I would have gladly paid more to have preserved and primed wood i guess this point is more about my experience rather than about the cabin or Dunster house. I was initially apprehensive about ordering as I'd read some reviews and as expected there were some negative ones. The volume of reviews are such that it's expected some issues might arise and , for me in particular, this is an expensive purchase to make. I can't speak for customer service in regards to having any issues but it's not such a hardship to email and include photos if you have problems. It's quite easy to see an issue rather than trying to explain it over the phone. Dunster do explain this is their process. In conclusion, this company is pretty good. The product is of a high standard and the process seems to work well. I'm pleased with my Rhine cabin.

Excellent log cabin

I ordered a Rhine log cabin and am absolutely delighted with it. My builder constructed it with one assistant in a day and friends have been highly complementary of the finished cabin. The electrician came to wire and connect it and couldnt believe how reasonably priced it was. I ordered by phone & all the staff I spoke to were extremely helpful. My builder sorted all the wood into piles of the same length before he began construction - as he said preparation the key to an easy build! I have to say that my only slight criticism is that the delivery crew were men of few words - very difficult to engage in conversation - even though my builder assisted them with unloading. We were certainly not as fortunate as many of your previous reviewers in this area!

Very easy to order. Was kept informed about delivery. Helpful staff and great delivery men.

Sturdy structure

The order process, communication and delivery process was very smooth. Instructions for the pergola were easy to follow. The different options to secure to a surface it could be clearer. As a novice google can be helpful but Id prefer to hear from the experts! Some of the smaller across slats have some larger knots that are missing, which could weaken in time. A couple have splintered. Its looks great and certainly finishes off the patio.
