  • Avoid planning permission
This building is under 2.5m high.
Why does this matter? Well, under permitted development rights buildings under 2.5m high can be placed as close as you want to a boundary (eg. a fence line) without planning permission. Buildings that are over 2.5m high, however, need to be placed over 2m away from any boundary (eg. a fence line), which means that with taller buildings you end up with a lot of space behind them. If you want to find out more about permitted development rights see our planning guide
  • Adjustable storm braces
Our adjustable storm braces tie the log cabin roof to the rest of the building so it withstands stronger winds. Unlike other cabins on the market they are adjustable to allow for the natural movement of the cabin which helps prevent gaps appearing between wall logs as the logs settle and move.
  • Slow Grown Spruce
We use slow grown spruce for the walls of all our log cabins as it is better all round than pine! Spruce is less porous than Pine and so less likely to shrink, warp or split. We only select slowly grown timber from colder climates which also helps keep the timber more stable as the rings are densely packed. It is also a less resinous timber than Pine, which makes the possibility of sap ruining your clothes or furnishings much less likely.
  • 4mm toughened glass
We use 4mm toughened glass in our windows and doors for increased safety and security. It's much better than 3mm horticultural glass, commonly found in garden buildings, as it's a lot harder to break, and if ever it is broken it breaks into small pieces rather than large shards. It is also much harder to scratch than the plastic alternatives, styrene, acrylic and perspex, so will preserve your clear view out for far longer.
  •

    Pressure treated bearers

By pressure treating our floor bearers we protect the lowest part of the building from rot and insect infestation. This forces the treatment deep into the timber using a large pressure treatment tank. Due to this costly but effective process we can offer our customers a genuine 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation on the bearers with no need for the customer to re-treat this timber at any point during that time.
  •

    10 year timber guarantee?

Other companies claim that they offer a 10 year Guarantee on their untreated timber. If you read the small print, you'll find that these Guarantees are pointless. They cover the cabin against rot and insect infestation only if you, the customer, treat the cabin every year with a good quality preservative. Why are these Companies offering a Guarantee for something that you are going to have to do yourself? How could you prove you had treated it if you tried to make a claim? We don't offer pointless Guarantees. We guarantee that our pressure treated timber and our galvanised metal will last for 10 years without yearly labour from you.
  • Customise your design
Our Log Cabins have been designed to fit any garden and accommodate any personal preferences. Where our pictures show the doors on either the left or the right hand side of the front elevation if you want the doors on the other side of the front elevation simply reverse the position of the front wall logs when you build it. You can choose between a traditional or modern style, depending on the type of roof you prefer, and with or without Georgian Bars, to suit your taste.
  • Tall walkthrough height
With our extra tall doors, unless you are over 1.86m (6'1") tall you can walk right the way through without any danger of bumping your head.
  • Avoid sagging roofs
Our heavy duty 140mm or 210mm high by 45mm wide supporting roof beams prevent unsightly sagging.
  •

    4 Point Door locking system

Our PremiumPlus doors feature our industry leading four point locking system. It features a hook, locking latch and two roller locks. We use a type of lock that has 6 pins and has been tested to BSEN 1303:2005 classification to ensure it is a safer, more secure locking system. Our Premiumplus windows have multipoint locking as well, using the same type of system as we supply with our uPVC windows and doors.
  • Optional 24mm Double Glazing
The double glazing option on PremiumPlus Log Cabins is an industry leading 24mm thick. We make these sealed units ourselves to European Standard EN1279. Made up of 4mm toughened glass, 16mm spacer and another piece of 4mm toughened glass. It's an excellent way of insulating your cabin and extending its usage from a seasonal building to one that can be used throughout the year.
  • Adjustable Hinges/Friction Stays
Our PremiumPlus doors feature easily adjustable hinges allowing you to make minor changes if ever required. The windows on this range have the same friction stays as we supply on our uPVC windows, meaning that you can open the window and leave it open with just the hinges taking the load, with no need for a stay arm. These sets of hinges are stylish and supremely user friendly.

PremiumPlus Severn Log Cabin W5.0m x D4.0m

The image above shows a brief reference to how your products will arrive. All of our garden buildings are made from kiln dried quality graded timber, if it is to be stored prior to construction and treatment all parts must be covered to prevent moisture from warping and rotting the timber.

Very impressed with the Premium Plus Severn log cabin. Excellent joint designs, easy to construct, a very good robust end product. Our construction is still ongoing and features a traditional joist floor, mounted on six concrete plinths. The roof is being insulated externally and topped with metal roofing sheets.

Excellent product and well engineered. Assembly was relatively simple. Had 2 man delivery and were extremely helpful. Will definitely buy again from Dunster

Now our Premium Severn is up and painted we are very happy with the quality of the product. As we live in Scotland the build service is not available to us and I think that is a crucial option selection to take. These are not for the amateur DIY guy to erect. Mine was 5x4 metres plus the veranda plus a sidestore and it took two joiners a good couple of days to erect it. Experience personnel from Dunster I would recommend if that option is available. We had some broken pieces once unpacked and Dunster House replaced them but it took a while and delayed the build. I would have rather they discounted the broken pieces so we could get local replacements made, however, luckily my joiners could reschedule and we got it finished once the replacement parts arrived. It now looks excellent and gets compliments from neighbours and family.

This log cabin was easier to erect than expected because the instructions were much better than I have received from other kit type constructions that I have been involved with. I run a construction company, as it happens, am a Chartered Builder and Civil Engineer am most pleased because also the quality of the product is really very good and outstanding value. I am in the process of installing a sauna and relaxation area within the log cabin and am looking forward to spending some happy hours here. There was one small item missing which I am due to receive shortly, and this minor problem has been handled well and I appreciate it is easy for something not to be just right but what is important is that it is dealt with efficiently. Overall we are delighted - it looks great!

I done a lot of research before I purchased my Premiumplus Severn 5 x 4 metre log cabin from Dunster House. I was nearly put off by reading some poor reviews on other sites, but decided to buy from Dunster House because they were very competitively priced for the higher spec I was looking for. They also offered many different specification options to suit your needs and budget. Everything went really smoothly from start to finish and I need not have worried. The delivery turned up on time and I could track it so that I had some idea when it would arrive. All parts were in good order when unloaded and there were extra logs in case they were needed. The product is very good quality and now that it is installed and painted it looks lovely in my garden and I'm extremely pleased with it. We haven't used the log cabin yet because we are waiting for the electricity to be installed and are in the process of furnishing it. Also, the bad weather is delaying the process. I'm looking forward to finishing the project and enjoying our purchase. I will post photos at a later stage. I would recommend Dunster House to others but would advise them to have a concrete base professionally installed prior to purchase. Also, store the timbers correctly until installation. Both these actions prevent future problems. I'm a very happy customer.
By - Linda Ellsmore on Jan 19,16 Dunster House reply:
Hi Linda. Thank you for your review. We're glad that you are happy with your purchase. We also supply two excellent foundation systems to work well with our garden buildings, the Premium RapidGrid and the PremiumPlus RapidPad. The Rapid Foundation Systems are a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to concrete foundations. Costing much less than a concrete base would, do not ruin the surrounding soil and need very little soil to be removed compared to a concrete base.

Very happy with house, easy to assemble with help from a friend and two helpers, up and wind and water tight in a day, my hot tub is 2m+2m and takes up a bit of room but every thing fits in fine.

Very happy with this
By - George Reynolds on Oct 27,15

An excellent product, easy to build and good quality. Only let down by being impossible to track delivery and not being informed that it would be delivered and unloaded by hand by two overworked (but excellent staff) I could have had a team of people there to help. Also ridiculous that you cannot speak to anybody in 'customer services' everything has to be done by email, wasting both parties time. I don't know of any other companies that do this. I have talked to other customers of yours and they share this view.
By - Bob Ring on Sep 18,15 Dunster House reply:
Dear Bob. Thank you for your review. We actually have a service on our website that allows you to track your delivery on the day that you are expecting it. Many of our clients find this very useful. Regarding our Customer Service it is true that we prefer emails as It allows complex technical queries to be resolved with the correct department in a fast and efficient manner. Also emails allow you to keep a record of what‘s been said. Phone calls don‘t allow you to keep a record. So, unlike others, we don‘t make false promises and then leave the customer to chase us up to get action with no proof of what‘s been agreed.

We purchased the premium plus severn log cabin to use as a games/cinema room for kids and myself. It was a piece of cake to erect, The instructions are easy to understand but it is much easier to watch the videos on dunster house website. It only took two days to erect the main shell, We added our own 100mm insulation to the floor and roof. We fitted the cabin with electric, gas central heating and added a kitchen and toilet. The cabin has turned out better than we expected and we have been spending many nights in there watching movies and playing our new arcade machine.
By - Gavin Musk on Aug 31,15 Dunster House reply:
Dear Gavin. Thank you for your review and the awesome photos you have sent us.

We are very pleased with our "super-shed" it's added genuine, usable space to our home for a growing family. Dunster House were great throughout the sales and installation process, the standard of materials used in construction and the workmanship on assembly is really good. With a base and electrical work it has ended up being a substantial investment for us but worth every penny.

The log cabin I purchased from you was great. I managed to assemble up to shoulder height in my own, my son and a friend them arrived and helped with the rest. It was up in just one weekend all of the section fitted well and required nothing more than a tap with a mallet. Before I purchased the log cabin I looked at three other suppliers and found your the best for quality and delivery. Your delivery crew were also very helpful when making the delivery, many thanks.
By - Les Birchmore on Jun 23,15

We are very pleased with the cabin and the team that erected it were great. Delivered on the day and at the time given and assembled within the time allocated. looking forward to kitting it out and making full use of it.
By - Peter Cane on Dec 16,14

Although the finished result is excellent I may not have read the description properly but was unready for the fact that it is completely flat pack, had thought it would come partially assembled. I was asked if I required the wood treating and chose this option - unaware that this would mean it came with two cans of wood preserver for me to apply!!
By - Mark Temple on Sep 16,14 Dunster House reply:
Dear Mr. Temple, thank you for your review. We are glad you are so satisfied with the final result. We do try our hardest to ensure our customers are completely aware of what they are buying. Our online product descriptions show the product in kit form, so customers can understand the work involved, as well as showing videos of construction. We also do state that our treatment is supplied for self application. We apologise if the nature of our products was in any way unclear to you.

Thanks very much we are very pleased with our cabin
By - Paul Richardson on Jul 03,14

I found this product better than expected. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I built this by myself in one weekend but I am a handy DIY person. Unloading the parts is a key part and making sure you stack them in the right order is key but depends on how much space you have available. The driver unloaded this with me and you need to be able to unload the lorry with him but if you could get an extra pair of hands it makes it easier. The driver was vary helpful and gave me tips that helped along the way .
By - Mark Wells on Jul 03,14

After searching everywhere for a garden cabin we finally decided on the Severn 400 from Dunster house. The whole experience was very pleasant and went extremely smoothly from start to finish. We decided to purchase from Dunster house because firstly the quality of the product was superior to any competition we found and secondly the cost was very reasonable. I am a carpenter so knew exactly what I was looking for. Delivery driver was very pleasant and the whole cabin took myself and a friend a total of 14 hours to unload from the lorry, carry approx 150ft and erect including finishing the roof with shingles which look great (that's gotta be a record time right Dunster??) I watched the installation videos on your website prior to delivery and followed them exactly, it was an enjoyable very simple project and we are all over the moon with our cabin. If you're thinking of purchasing a cabin I can strongly recommend Dunster house, thank you for a fantastic service !!
By - Danny Borge on Jul 03,14 Dunster House reply:
Dear Danny, that's a pretty impressive time, that's for sure. It shows the benefits of preparation (watching our installation videos)!

Searched around and Dunster House seem to be the best all rounder for the price. Settled on the Seven 400 5m x 4m and very pleased. Delivery driver was friendly and help me unload, told me the best way to stack it etc… Only downside is it is kerbside, no crane manual unload off the lorry onto the floor. Once the base is down the logs just drop in like giant Lego, everything was a good fit and was good quality materials. Instruction didn't really bother with but the FAQ videos were great and certainly helped. Took approx 2 days including the shingles & building a base with 3 of us on it but we didn't rush and it was zero degrees! Machine cuts were perfect, would recommend and buy again. Only downside was short on the nails for the floor but screwfix supplied a another bag for a few quid, job done. Would recommend a door stop as if the door swings open in the wind the door handle strikes the glass window. Overall Great Log Cabin PLEASED!
By - Rossi Distefano on Jul 03,14 Dunster House reply:
Hi Mr. Distefano, we do have the option of the hook and eye on our log cabins so customers can purchase these to hook the doors open.

I am really impressed with the product and Dunster House generally. It all went according to plan and our only apprehension was the feeling that it can't be this easy! I had my girlfriend and her father building the cabin with me and it turned out to be a fun weekend.
