If you lack the space inside your house, a garden studio could be the solution to give you more room for your job or favourite pastime. A detached building that’s separate from the house will give you the peace and quiet you need to concentrate and focus on the task at hand.
One of the great things about a garden studio is its flexibility of use. Whether your passion lies in music, photography, pottery, crafting or art, there’s a garden building to suit your needs. Get back to doing more of the things you enjoy with a dedicated space just for you. A garden studio building is a completely private space where you can work in peace without disruption.
Multi-Room Garden Studio
A garden studio with multiple rooms will allow you to really make the most of your outdoor space. This way you can have separate zones for work, leisure, and maybe even a storage area too. Our multi-room log cabins give you the best of both worlds, together in one compact building. Choose a garden building that’s split into rooms with a dividing wall, or a log cabin with an adjoining sidestore.
Log Cabin Garden Studio
Our log cabin studios are ideal for creating your own secluded garden sanctuary. Use as a hobby hut, garden office, or relaxation area.
The interlocking log walls offer a strong and robust building. The pressure treated floor bearers will protect the bottom of your cabin, while the multi-point locking windows and doors fitted with toughened glass will ensure a safe and secure building. The floor is an integral part of the garden room, which is why we are sure to include sturdy 19mm thick tongue and groove floorboards, so you know your garden room is complete. We also supply vents to provide ventilation and aid moisture control, and adjustable storm braces as part of the log cabin kit. The storm braces help hold the log cabin together to enable it to withstand the elements. The storm braces we supply are adjustable, which allows for natural movement over time, helping to prevent gaps appearing between the wall logs as they settle.
Garden Office Studio
The best thing about remote working is not having to commute. However, working from home can sometimes make you feel like you never escape the office, making it hard to switch off and relax. Having a separate office area provides the perfect balance between work and home life, so you can keep them apart.

Whether you work as a music teacher, play in a band, or just enjoy mixing your own sounds, a home isn’t always the right environment for this. Practising your instruments or creating music can be noisy and disruptive for others in the house. A garden studio is the answer, providing you with the space to store your instruments and equipment, while giving you the freedom to let the music play.

Garden Gym Studio
Having your own fitness studio gives you the space to exercise and workout in private. There’s no need to feel self-conscious, and no-one around to intimidate you. Use your home gym to house treadmills, exercise bikes, weight lifting stations, or even boxing bags. Keep some floor space free for an aerobic exercise, or lay out some mats for a wind down with some yoga. The choice of exercise is up to you, and you can set your own pace. A gym in the convenience of your own garden may also encourage you to exercise more and give you the motivation to keep going with that fitness regime.
Insulated Garden Studio
If you plan to spend a lot of time in your studio space, you may want to consider getting an insulated garden building. This will help to maintain the temperature inside, making it perfect for use all year round. It’ll be so cosy inside, you’ll feel just like you’re in a room in the house rather than outside in the garden.
Our buildings are designed to ensure comfort during any weather. We have many fully insulated garden offices and log cabins, made using high quality materials. We use some of the best insulators around, such as Polyisocyanurate and SuperFOIL, which have high thermal efficiency. Compared to alternatives such as polystyrene, bubble wrap and rockwool, these materials are known to have far superior insulating properties.
Insulated Studio Cabins
Our log cabin studios offer variety, with a range of sizes, styles and insulated options. You can choose between adding roof and floor insulation to your log office, or opting for one of our fully insulated home office log cabins.
Our Warmalog insulated log cabins are an innovative concept. They are built using walls with a unique 62mm sandwich of timber and polyisocyanurate insulation. However, they have a U-Value that is equivalent to 110mm wall logs. To further help thermal insulation, industry leading double glazed windows are included as standard.
Wooden Garden Studios
Our pressure treated wooden garden offices come with a 10 year guarantee against rot and insect infestation, after all it is an outdoor building that will be susceptible to the elements. Pressure treating the timber ensures a high level of protection, as the treatment is forced deep into the wood while moisture is removed. This results in a garden building that will last a long time, and be low maintenance. What’s more, all of our garden studios come with pressure treated floor bearers, to ensure the lowest part of the building is protected.
Planning Permission for Garden Studios
Garden buildings don’t tend to require planning permission, as they are usually considered as permitted development. However, it must meet certain conditions. A garden studio from Dunster House will not typically need planning permission, because most are under 2.5m high. This means you have more freedom to place the building where you want in your garden, so can really maximise the space you have. Although some exceptions may apply, so it’s a good idea to check with your local authority if you have any doubts. You can see more information about planning permission and building regulations by visiting the official government website.
